Just 3" of water? 3 inches? My 91 Nissan Hard Body Truck went through water above the headlights, with water over the cab from oncoming trucks, for over a mile, flooding the clutch, and no water in the cab, while never stalling.

Since I was a child there have been floods each Spring in the flood plain of town. We grew up knowing better than to drive fast in deep water. Yet there's always THAT guy, and he never learns. A flooded engine is costly. If the car's engine is submerged for a while you may as well kiss it goodbye.

In my youth, here in NZ, I used to take the fanbelt off my 1964 Morry Oxcart, to stop it spraying water all over the engine and had a Mini waterproof distributor cap. Great channel, thanks team 🙂 In New Zealand we do get a lot of flood events. So I grew up with the hazard. Only go as fast as you can wade through it. Know where your air intake is. Example, my Mazda 6 is under the lower bumper, my Falcon, being an Aussie, car is above the radiator. Being a mechanic for 47yrs, I have seen plenty of times where water is forced into steering, suspension, bearings, electronics etc from drivers just driving too fast through water. I live on the shores of Lake Rotoma, in the Bay of Plenty and two to 3 times a year, some moron drowns a perfectly good vehicle, thinking its a submarine, just because it has a snorkle.
