I don't know if you're anywhere near the Ashville flood disaster, but with all the material moved by the flood it would seem that area has a potential for a lot more gold than I've seen on one channel where some young newbie accidentally paned out a decent line in a few buckets. Now he's in the middle of dealing with survival. He's not a real prospector, just broke into it because he found a home made sluice and tried it. I hope they find out.

I'm roughly 160 miles from Asheville. I don't think there's much gold in that area but I'm sure McDowell and Burke County got their creeks reloaded.

Bandit, thanks for your long-time support of the channel. BTW, I have a high torque motor for the corn husker but I'm not sure it has enough a$$ to do what it needs to do but we shall see! My next hurdle is getting a strong enough weld or connection between the spindle and shaft connection points. I'm still looking for a coupler that will thread over the husker handle connection.

What's funny is that Jon went to that spot before I got there the next trip out and started prospecting it because it looked like it had been washed out in a rain storm due to how the roots were sticking out but intact. He showed me a nice pan he did from there 😂

Increase your gold recovered by learning the physics involved in dowsing, then placer mine the areas with the highest concentrations of gold. In the 1970's my father and I reverse engineered the physics involved in dowsing, then we invented the modern light weight ball bearing dowsing rod, so that we could locate our old core-drill on the exact center of the gold and silver veins that are buried under 200 feet of glacier rock and till, which worked out perfect for us. These dowsing physics and dowsing techniques are too important to the world for myself to selfishly take to the grave, so I wrote the book to teach the wold how to dowse, with marketing my book at the lowest price possible so that more people can buy my book and learn how to dowse. My book: The Art of Dowsing - Separating Science from Superstition ($14.95), by Michael Fercik, explains all the physics involved in dowsing (the same physics that energizes the alarm on electronic metal detectors), and teaches how to build the modern light weight ball bearing dowsing rod, which is the only dowsing rod that accurately gauges the element being dowsed by pitting the energy of gravity against the energizing of the pure one-tenth ounce dowsing rod load that is tapped onto the elevated acetylene welding rod, which free spins on ball bearings. Anyone can become a professional dowser by practicing my book's dowsing lessons of buried pipelines and electrical cables, tunnels and voids, precious and base precious metal placer and lode deposits, dowsing for treasure, dowsing for any element, amplified long distance dowsing from a moving vehicle, and dowsing on water from a boat. I hope dowsing enriches your life intellectually and financially.

May not seem like alot but that is certainly worth mining even of done part time. If me i would run enough of the gravel and decomposed layer. Just so its safe enough to find bedrock and any other layers holding pay.
@LeeHendrixGoldАй бұрын
Yes, it's fairly decent pay but just a whole lot of overburden to move around to get to it and the water table being so shallow presents another set of problems though that would make dredging a possibility. I doubt Tim wants to make a mess of things but I'm certainly willing to help if he does 🤣

@kenjewell71602 ай бұрын
The gray clay could be decomposed quartz. When you grind quartz to below 200 mesh it is almost always blue. If there is iron staining it will also have an orange hue to it. If so the gold you found maybe gold released from the quartz rocks you were finding with your material. I would send some off for fire assay or perhaps you might want to crush and grind some with your small impact mill and then pan and see.
@LeeHendrixGold2 ай бұрын
Yes, that would account for the sandy grit that was in that layer too. I think rock crushing will be an upcoming chapter and has been the historical bread and butter of that particular area. So much fun to be had and so little time to do it in 😊

@LeeHendrixGold2 ай бұрын
That seems to make the most sense, but I can't figure out why the gray clay layer lies directly on hard bedrock that is only fractured in the creek. The rock in the creek that is fractured does not have any green tint to it.
