Love it ! A vanishing culture sadly. My grandmother and great grandfather were macdonalds from Islay .

Thx for posting, Tom! I met and well remember Duncan from my first visit to Portnahaven in September 1992. My father Lennart had brought him a half bottle of Famous Grouse which we cracked open in Duncan's small living-room in Shore Street. His body was getting older but his mind and tongue were fast and funny. "Have you lived on Islay all your life?", I asked. "Not yet", he replied within a second. "Have you ever left Islay?", I continued. "Well, I fell off the pier in Port Ellen once...", he answered with a grin on his face. Etc etc. Scottish-Swedish regards /Jöns Hellsing
