Dear Howerfly enthousiasts, may I share a howerfly adventure with you? Fifteen years ago, i had the oportunity to sleep under a tent in a meadow full of blooming flowers and weeds. It was summer at a meditation workshop in switzerland (forgive me my english). In short, my spirit urged for input. As I woke up early in the morning I was surrounded by the starting noises of houndreds of thousands of starting Howerflies. Their sound started from a low hum to their destinct frequency in about two seconds. Not all at the same time, but all to exactly the same typical frequency. I was sitting in my tent with the surround sound of this precise ssssssssssssound, with some flies starting up to and others decending down from. It just sounded phenomenaly. It was a great experience. I just can suggest you to experience it on your own. Thank You, Howerflies!

Thank you. Very educational. I was trying to figure out if what I saw today was a type of hoverfly? I took a video of it not sure if it's clear enough kzbin.info-Y_3tflEDtg?feature=share After watching you video i think it was.

Webcams would have been better if partially transparent, even just 1% transparency, but anywhere between 1-10% would be good.

Yes, yes yes and I try to give them a little paradise. They have a little home I built for them, unfortunately it became the home of rats last year. This year, I have cleaned every corner in there and hope that the cute awesome hedgehog that comes to eat from my cat food every night decides to stay therein from time to time ;)

I live in Buckinghamshire and we have hedgehogs in our garden and I am delighted as I haven't seen any for years. I just moved so I am turning my garden into a bit of a wildlife garden and not using chemicals of any kind and having a wild garden in one corner, anything to encourage these beautiful creatures to multiply. They come into my neighbours garden and then into mine, and having just moved this is the icing on the cake for me as I didn't want to move!

Last summer whilst attempting to clean out our garden shed my husband found mummy, daddy and 4 baby hogs nesting. He quickly left the shed as it was, we started to feed them, we found our neighbours were doing the same. We all purchased several big houses in addition, and we insulated ours. We have hogs in them over winter. We have since found out our other neighbours also have them, we must be a great little colony in our street!

Depends on where you live. For the most part, African Pygmy hedgehogs are legal to keep as pets, but not European ones.

i have hedgehogs in my garden,LOVE them,i support my local rescue centre, and wonderfully they are THRIVING here,i have a small wood right at the back of my garden, and when they mooch,if they go to the front,it’s a cul de sac,so not much traffic, and like i say, luckily doing well here,i had colin,a release at mine, lol saw him come out of his cosy hog house n waddled straight under the fence to the wood, hopefully after his second chance of life,at the rescue centre he was off making babies lol, just adore them, and i see them at my feeding station occasionally, thank you too for the Beautiful poem, pauline bramall wigan manchester 🦔🦔🦔🦔🦔🦔🦔🦔🦔🦔🦔
