I love the 1-year later or 2-year later videos. They give a more honest impression of the product. I hate the hypers that drown social media misleading everyone. Tuning instability is because of the Hipshot bridge. They suck. Changing the tuners or nut will not give you improvement. And the woods have acclimatized after two years so that can't be an issue especially if you keep it in your house all the time. I had Hipshot before, never again.

I've built a dozen guitars with ebony fretboards. It is not a difficult wood to work with. It routes easily, it sands easily. As far as I'm concerned it's great to work with. The only reason I can think a fretboard might crack is when it is less than 3/16" thick. If it's too thin the clamping pressure could crack the board.
@swanny3382Ай бұрын
All guitars drowned with distortion will sound the same....a £200 Epiphone LP and a £5,000 Custom shop LP will sound the same with distortion, sound reviews are pointless with massive distortion all over guitars

I am a home player with an interest using amp sims for a bit of fun. I don’t own nor do I want to own monitors or play through headphones, but I do want to use my existing cabs. I was seriously about to go nuts trying to figure out what I needed. I don’t see much information out there for going this route. You broke it down super fast and simple and now I can get it done. Thank you a ton…EXTREMELY USEFUL for someone who just likes to play and has no interest in recording. Everything I seen before this only dealt with connecting to monitors. Thank you!

Thanks for your kind words. I was dealing with the same issue. Lack of information regarding the use of cabinets with amp sims. That’s why I made this video. I’m glad it helped you.

I'm curious, so the interface output goes into the fx loop. The guitar plugs into the interface input. But where does the return plug in to? And what is plugging into the front input of the amp?
@michaeltownsend1206Ай бұрын
@@ReikiBarbosa Hey. So the output of the interface goes into the return of the fx loop. This causes the signal to bypass the preamp section of the amp and just use the amps power amp section to power the speaker in the cab. Nothing goes into the send of the fx loop though. I had a “duh” moment after watching this video and then doing it. I don’t know what I was thinking before

Yes, you could run the effects send of the amp into a cabinet simulation pedal, then into the mixing board for the PA. It would probably sound great.

Right. I don’t remember tbh but I think reverb will work just fine. Even though I think this reverb is not the best in the world. I barely use it. Prefer to use a pedal or a plug in if I’m recording.

Mate, Ive had two solars, first I sent back because of the lacquer peeling and bubbling, second arrived and the volume knob was almost falling out of the guitar, upon tightening it, the tone I got was extremely muddy, and the signal would cut in and out, the middle position on the selector switch didn't work at all. And when I messaged telling them about this I just got ran around in circles, have you tried this? Have you sprayed this, make sure this isn't touching the wood. Like it's my job to do all these things on a brand new guitar that you apparently CQ'd after manufacture and before sending it to me? Gtfo. Despite absolutely loving the shape and playability of solars, I won't ever get another. They can kiss my ass.

I think some super glue with a wick tip and a razor blade should seal the crack? if the nut is plastic you should probably replace it. do you use anything to lube your nuts and saddles? I like to use Tri-Flow or white lithium grease. I picked this up from John Cruz (ex-Fender Custom Shop). Thanks for the video 🍺

I feel to get a true comparison, you'd need to use the 81s and the Duncan Solars on the same guitar.

…and without an overdrive pedal.
@mr8ty819 күн бұрын
For a real comparison you need a Seymour custom 5 in the bridge and a Seymour 59 in the neck. That is what the Duncan solars are modelled after. Only hotter.

Don't they built these at Cor-Tek? Why have I heard of so many cracks in Solar Guitars but not in other brands they produce?
@christopherfidler30195 ай бұрын
PRS gives each SE model a QC check and setup before shipping. this is why they have a reputation for being good out of the box but not every company does this hence the inconsistencies. Solar does QC checks. I mean I have seen Ola do it a couple times on his KZbin channel.
@InGrindWeCrust20105 ай бұрын
Ola at least used to play the guitars from every run and check them off before they were exported. I doubt Squier or others do the same as PRS and I don't think LTD does but I've never heard of issues with those.

My solar v1.7frc has a pretty big crack on the fretboard, but it doesn't bother me what so ever. Has not gotten any bigger or worse once it accured. The guitar itself is my main guitar and I love to play it. The tuning stability is fucking awesome. The 1000 series floyd rose with the locking tuners is a great combo. Also the neck has been really stable. No major moment what so ever in over 2 years.

@grindgore426 ай бұрын
The tuning instability issue may also be occurring due to the plastic nut. A graph tech nut plus locking tuners should totally resolve the issue.
@JimZarasOfficial6 ай бұрын
Is it plastic? I had the impression it’s graphite. Can’t find information about this online. :/
@PrimaxeOfficial6 ай бұрын
Locking tuners shouldn't have better tuning stability than non locking assuming similar quality and correct stringing technique, a good quality well cut lubricated nut (or self lubricating like graphtec) makes a big difference though.

If your speaker is defeated, why remove the speaker cable? The speaker defeat just puts a dummy load in.

The whole point of having the defeat button is so you don't need a speaker. Why not remove the speaker cable?
@MrCloudyhead4 ай бұрын
@@BillPinkNye Of course. My point was more that your process seemed to imply it was a necessary step but it really isn’t. I was wondering the purpose of making it an explicit “Step 1”. I’d argue it’s safer to keep it in, just in case you forget, disable the defeat, and fire the amp up…

I bought V1.6 Canibalismo, really beautiful guitar V-Model. 2023 model. Pros: -frets were silky smooth. -looks. -evertune. -locking tuners. -pots and switches (good stuff). -feel of the neck. -nut. Cons : -pickups vs SD/EMG etc, Solar Pups were quiet with no sustain or gain, especially that gain with lifeless overall sound . -string alignment issue (6th string almost outta fretboard from 21 to 24 frets). The whole Evertune cavity was installed too much to the side. -coated oxidation preventing factory strings were rusted and 2 of em snapped right away, no biggie tho, it's just strings but bad name for Blacksmith string-brand. -Fretboard had red paint here n there (residue and such) -Fretboard had cracks thru the frets. -Fretboard sides were pushed outwards cracking the fretboard (like installing stainless steel frets would cause the sides to pop out and crack). -There was something which looked like Indian ink here and there on fretboard, have no idea what it was but as the ebony was very light at color (cheap eben i suspect) , you could see the black ink on the fretboard without much light. -Solar logo starts from fret 11 and continues to fret 15 which is weirdly lower than in pictures. -Solar logo started to faint/peel off within the 3 weeks i had the guitar. -other minor cosmetic issues i have with Harley Bentons and cheapest Jacksons. It's darn shame the guitar is designed so well in paper , has potential with expensive and complex EverTune system, Stainless steel frets and so on, basically awesome looks, but destroyed with such a poor build quality,. Im dazzled,. I mean,. If you make this stuff for 1199€ and use all the materials, at least use some time to make it to do its main job or don't waste the materials at all. I believe and want to believe Solar can make quality instrument if it wants, the parts are there to build it up, only fretboard material is too cheap but it can be addressed and use some more time to not mess all the cool Swamp Ash, EverTune etc to something unplayable which peeps wants ro return. I returned the guitar since it was unplayable and unusable as a instrument. Ola being just a businessman nowadays?, profit over anything else? The company is hush hush about all this.

II own some of the pick ups listed. My 2 cents: Dark matter is anything but a pedal suitable for metal, the only things that is for metal is the color of the pedal. The Sovereign, is a great pedal (it can cover all tipe of sound from rock to almost every metal) but it cannot handle high output pickups: no active pickup, no passive pick up with high output. It has orrible sound with that pickup if you don't decrease the volume of the pickup ( or by lowering in the guitar, or thit the volume knob). It does't take well all overdrives if you boost too much the signal. Whit Saymour D. JB is amazing, and it work well very if it is bosted with sd1 or ts9. Better than many real valve amp.
