Love how Peggy goes right for the Clio, because it was won for her idea and she got zero credit.

This definitely was the golden era of advertising on mad avenue!! A time when drinking in the office was an acceptable practice, and the bravado on display from these guys was so on point in how it was depicted in the show is so accurate to a T. That would would have been something to live during that era!

I once went out to a corporate lunch for my birthday, drank 6 beers, astonished my boss and his boss when they realized I'd drunk 6 beers, went back to work, went into a meeting room where I and a colleague were each scheduled to give a presentation, listened to my colleague's presentation, got up and gave the presentation that I was schedule to give, and astonished my boss and his boss again by giving a sterling presentation and absolutely smoking my colleague. I heard them talking to each other as we left saying "How the * did he do that? He drank 6 beers at lunch!"

This was an earlier point in the show that “cure for the common___” is the most generic cliche’ ad slogan you can come up with

The little details like Peggy holding the award for a long time and have it snatched from her. I remember she was feeling bitter she didn't get recognition for helping make the idea that won this award.

This was badly clipped. Either many of those reacting in the comments didn't watch the show or didn't remember why Peggy was acting that way. He basically won them over with a pitch that he rejected as bad but pretended he came up with it on the spur of the moment.

I love how many people forget the fact that the exact slogan they ended up going with, was one that Don directly shat on and then fired the person who put the idea forward. He's not only drunkenly stumbling into success, the catalyst for that success was someone he directly disparaged.
