The dreadful Joe Pigsear, drafted in to fuck us up under the Ashley Tyranny 😒 Fuckin taking in Rush & Barnes was just embarrassing. Nearly as bad as Boumsong and Bramble...

Leonhardsen runs 40 yards to sprint to that ball and then lay it on a plate for Holdsworth, it is incredible. Look where he is at 46:00 and where he ends up.

Remember listening to this as a 7 year old on BBC London (being allowed to stay up) was after my first game live in March ‘96 away to Crewe .. crazy to think 6 years before hand we was in the top flight and the misery after incomparable to those before me. Been lucky as a Millwall supporter

The entire team cost less than Dennis Bergkamp. Love them & not many did or hate 'em many did you have to respect what this little club achieved when they got elected to Div 4 in 1977. Respect, the greatest little club of the 20th century.

Good ol' Wimbledon, tho there's plenty top Man U names on display, we all know mid week the side will be lo & behold at full strength. Fergie's not interested in it unless it gets to the semis by chance. The players are interested in it that's the thing & want to be in that once great final & a amazing 53,000+ want it too. A dilemma.

Games like this proved what a poor manager Gullit was. We won fair and square and instead of saying his team wasn't good enough he would say well we had more possession. Equally poor pundit as well

Sir Trevor Brooking summed it up Liverpool had so many chances in that month period to get back into the title conversation and threw them away. Losing to Coventry the day after United slipped up at home to Derby, dropped points in the merseyside derby against Everton where Robbie Fowler was sent off which meant he was suspended for the remainder of that season and now this. If they had won this game it would have gone to the final day with United dropping points against Newcastle 2 days after this which was their 3rd draw on the bounce.
@johnoshea4702 жыл бұрын
Well it was typical of that liverpool team, bollockless and soft as shit
@wannabe3533 ай бұрын
It didn't help Liverpool that Coventry was very much a Bogey team for them (similar to Wimbledon in some ways), that Everton were tough opponents to face in derby matches (and that Fowler got sent off and resultantly suspended), and that Liverpool then had to face another of their Bogey teams (Wimbledon) away from home with winning balls in the air not being their strong point.

How I wish how they showed more of utd being so rattled after we scored, like when Schmeichel missed a simple back pass that only just went wide, or when vinny was time-wasting in front of all the utd fans doing kick ups and catching the ball on the back of his neck while a shower of rubbish was being pelted at him from the utd fans. One of my favorite games ever. And even the score board started to take the piss

I loved this game as a kid. That Schmeichel 'goal' was mental. What a result that was for us Dons

God, this was one of a whole collection ungorgettable, boyhood memories watched at selhurst park! Football was so different back then! And yes I remember the piss taking from vinnie, I was watching from the top tier homesdale and thought Schmeichel had equalised!

This was the last game I went with my dad. I went with my parents and a mate. Gooners for life. Dad passed away in 1997, so this game means a lot to me. We sat in the Arthur waite stand and when merson scored he celebrated right in front of us. I remember Winterburn celebrating and he was like a man possed. Great day and memories. Also my mum took a blanket to keep warm. Lol

What was astonishing, was we took 13,000 to South London, all in plenty of time, yet Coventry, 160 miles closer to the Smoke, couldn't get their bus to North London in time for the stated kick off ??? A second kick in the teeth for Sunderland after '77, yet they managed to keep the score AGAIN People ask why I freakin HATE Cov? Will stay with me till my dying day
