It's running forward. Reverse wouldn't work.

I recently purchased a Carbide set for a few quick custom projects (I didn't want to fuss with a sharpening system). I've found a few videos so far that feature carbide but nothing came close to tips and footage of using the three "basic carbide woodturners" seen here. Really appreciate the video, the pacing and the very helpful commentary.

Once I'm able to afford these in the set of 4 it's gonna happen! I use the standard 3 carbide tools with the foam grip handles and absolutely love them. By far the best carbide tools I have used, Simple woodturning tools has a guaranteed customer here for as long as I need or want new tools.

Thanks for the . Question, since the height of the roller is adjustable, what is the recommended height? All the way down below the cutting blades or what?
@KerryHarrison-Woodturning5 ай бұрын
Adjust the roller to be 1/2" above the ground when the mower is at the cutting height. If you want the strips to be more pronounced the roller can be adjusted to run on the ground while mowing.
@blown5035 ай бұрын
so you dont let the roller actually touch the ground and the deck ride on the roller?

I have a 2020 Bad Boy Rebel 32 inches between inside edge of tires. Do you make a striping kit for it? I love your design it will work better than other “BIG” brand that you pull behind your mower. Please advise. Thanks.
@KerryHarrison-Woodturning7 ай бұрын
We have only worked with the 60" deck on a 2016 ZT Elite. The kit that we have is designed for that deck, we're not sure if it'll fit other Bad Boy models. There is an installation video for that one if you want to take a look and see if that deck set up is the same as what you have. Thanks so much for your interest in our striping kits!

Hi there…. Love my Simple turning tools. One thing…. I’m having a bit of an issue with the detailer in that it seems to set too far back in the tool. It doesn’t want to bite into the work unless I really push or turn the tool down below the level of the tool rest. Both of those movements invite nasty catches. Any advice?

So you need to use the live tailstock for support? I like what I see but have questions. I have had many bowls fly off when using glue blocks. Turning the center of the bowl without tailstock support…

Interesting, a homeowner without huge equipment could alternate application of nitrogen to chemically deepen color or if you had warm season grass (I.e. Zoysia ) alternate with a cool season grass.

I appreciate your video. I'm trying to figure out which to buy. And the last thing I want is to be wishing I'd bought a bigger one later. I wanted a refined one that's really high quality but that does nothing for ya when you want to turn a bigger piece. Who's ever said, "that bowl is a little small but was made on a lathe with no scratches and the tail stick slid off easily"? No one that's who. I've decided I'm buying the biggest one that's adequate. I'm not buying one that looks the best sitting around and has a few things that makes it more convenient. The one I'm using now needs a Allen key to adjust the tool test and no reverse for God's sake. I can surely deal with a few tiny issues

That depends on what tools you purchase. Here's a link to it on our website - www.simplewoodturningtools.com/collections/simple-hollowing-system

I'm looking at getting a system but your doing a bowl not really hollowing your not extended out far like if you were doing a vase or something can it do something like that ?
@KerryHarrison-Woodturning10 ай бұрын
Yes, it's perfect for vases and other hollow forms. The full size tools allow hollowing to 9" deep. The 16" SSCF tool allows a depth of 12".

What about the play in the tailstock. I heard the Jet lathe has a lot less play. What I mean by play is the sideways movement in the tail stock. I think the less play means straighter alignment between the tail stock and head stock.
