I was on the Yellowstone subreddit, and they all heavily criticize the show and were massively disappointed in the ending. Anyways, a few months ago, I asked the question “Who’s smarter, Beth Dutton or Walter White?” And everyone was like “Walter White” except for one person. This is what they said: “Our Queen is smarter. 👑 I have only seen parts of Breaking Bad but Beth is shown to be a business genius and she also can attack anyone and everyone. She sets a great example for girls and ladies to aspire to. We need more feminists like this on TV.” And I cringed so hard seeing that, like what the actual fuck?! Besides, their Reddit name was BethSlays.

The problem is that Castlevania was style AND substance. Nocturne has style without substance. The original had solid character writing, with solid character arcs, and multiple heroes we could root for. We were never given a reason to care about Richter other than that he's a sad boy. Orloch was a pretty good villain, but he was let down by a lackluster leading cast. Glad you could find enjoyment, because Nocturne felt like a slap in the face to me.

I definitely think there’s something to that, I liked Richter personally though. The others were definitely not as compelling as Sypha and Alucard

this is a show I just could not watch. First, Costner is just useless as an actor. Always has been. Second, the entire premise is hysterically stupid. the only other show I can think of that has the same "we're all morons" feel is Friends...

Roland "Prez" Pryzbylewski from Wire season 4 feels natural as a teacher when he faces uninviting mentality from students whereas Monica is just a straight up monologue lecturing the audience that doesnt do anything for the students. She's talking to the audience(us) which is on the nose.

I haven't seen Yellowstone but I recently watched Landman, another Sheridan production. My wife liked it, but I found it pretty moronic with the only saving grace being Billy Bob Thornton's performance. It was pretty disappointing since I've liked Sheridan films I've seen. I'm not going to waste my time on the 2nd season.

‘Yellowstone’ is a BAD soap opera about self-righteous criminals pretending to be ranchers. At least ‘Dallas’ didn’t pretend to be based on some deviant reality. The last ‘good’ Dutton was James. ‘The English Patient’ 🤮

Thanks for this. I went into nocturne as a history buff for the time period and a big fan of the original. Obviously I was disappointed I was left to wonder what people even liked in this season at all. I came in expecting solid character writing and correct historical flare, so obviously this was not for me. But im glad others could find enjoyment where I could not. I dislike Nocturne while you loved it, So I appreciate the insight into your viewpoint, and I at least see why people like the season now

Fair enough, we all have subjects that we just can’t suspend disbelief for and that’s totally okay. I didn’t even consider how the show is from a historical standpoint. It goes to show how many aspects there can be praise/criticize about a piece of media
@brockly3486
@brockly3486 Күн бұрын
I personally think season 2 of nocturne cleaned up a lot of the things people were initially complaining about. SPOILERS 👇 For example, a lot of people were unhappy with how christians were visualized in the first season, you learn to hate the Abbot more than some of the other big bads’ in the show. But when you actually watch him get killed by Maria, it feels innately wrong, like sure he was a bad guy but the way he died was utterly pointless… and that was the point. Maria getting her vengeance did nothing but almost get her killed and semi-started her villain arc. But that’s good, because to me it brings a more interesting and complicated balance between the good and evil portrayed in the show.

Stay tuned, I'm currently editing a video on season 2! I mostly agree though, I think many of the decisions made in season 2 really helped right the ship for those who wanted to jump off. I wasn't a massive fan of the Abbott's ending though, I was just hoping for more of an arc

How to tell if a character is morally good... Step one: Would they end up on Dexter's kill table? Do they fit his code? If YES: They are _not_ morally good. They are a murderer. If NO: They _are_ morally gray, realistically I ain't watched Yellowstone but I saw clips and never got the hype. It always seemed like people were praising immoral, reprehensible actions and the straight murder of innocent people all because "muh ranch." Seems like this Rip fellow as well as John would be likely candidates for Dexter's table lol.

You are my lighthouse in a stormy of sea of rapid Yellowstone fans. It took me a while to figure out what exactly I didn’t like, why every time after finishing an episode I felt exhausted and in a negative mood. I put off coming back and watching season 6 for like 2 years after it came out, and when I gave up halfway through, I realized what it was: the dialogue for this show is abysmal. Every SINGLE line is this melodramatic attempt at profundity. One that stuck out the most is when the kid Beth adopted (but won’t let him call her mom because mommy issues) is told by John to “stop growing.” Kid goes “why,” now, that’s a common enough thing to say to kids, could easily be a little human moment. But instead of saying something like “cuz it makes me feel old,” John launches into a spill on how “it reminds me I’m running out of time, so if you keep growing I’ll fire you” Another great example is when the evil corporation is bringing in their version of Beth, and a coworker is checking out her ass and she goes “if you’re going to look, be man enough to stare.” WHO TALKS LIKE THIS!? That’s straight up workplace harassment. You can’t say shit like that. And then the exhausting amount of of soap opera tropes, they even pulled the “character is actually an orphan!” Yellowstone is a soap opera made for 45 year old white women that don’t want to feel like they’re watching a soap opera. The best parts of the show were any time I was just learning about the cattle industry and ranching without all the drama bs.

everyone hyped it up so i went in assuming it would be at least decent. it is decent… it’s just not exceptional in any way. if you compare it to everything else out there. it’s a 5-6 on the scale. nothing more or less… you can hate it, but i also promise there’s some form of media you absolutely adore that’s just as mediocre. i don’t love it, i don’t hate it… best to not let “the small stuff” get too far inside your britches. #onemansopinion

Always hated Beth so much (even though I stopped watching somewhere at the beginning of season four). Even with the supposed beef she has with her brother Jamie. Like he was trying to help her for fuck's sake. She's the teenager who was irresponsible and got pregnant and then wanted to lie to her family about it. Then never come to terms with her mistake and blame her brother for her ENTIRE life. And the way she acts with everyone else she works with etcetera; it's all just because she has a rich dad and their family is powerful or whatever. It's nothing that she has accomplished that should allow her to be able to treat others that way (AS IF THAT SHOULD BE A THING ANYWAYS). Great take. Beth Dutton is a complete pile of shit. The only reason that boomers love this show so much is because Yellowstone shows that the idyllic ranching way of life is, unfortunately, a thing of the past and people resonate with that. That is regretful but Yellowstone could have done a much better job of telling that story.
