A lot of these bosses are directly inspired/influenced by Fleischer Studios (and a few were inspired by Van Beuren studios). The bird is inspired by Fleischers’ short film “Popeye Meets Sinbad the Sailor”. Likewise, the anteater is inspired by the Fleischer short “Ants in the Plants”. Fleischer Studios rivaled Disney during its heyday of the 1930s, and brought us so many characters like Betty Boop and Popeye, and brought Superman to the screen for the first time. As a huge Fleischer Studio fan, I have so much fun playing Cuphead. Truly a masterpiece! ❤️💙💛

This is a great comment. I think this is direct evidence of the reputation stop-motion has. (I believe you btw about stop-motion having always been creepy to you, so what I'm about to say is more of a thought experiment than me saying you're wrong). Either you're right, and all the stop-motion films you've seen really do have something scary in them (and then we need to ask ourselves why that is - I would assume it's probably the filmmakers leaning into the niche, especially if the film as a whole isn't supposed to be scary). Or you actually have seen stop-motion films that aren't scary and you don't remember them and assume they all have something scary in them. Either way, in your mind, stop-motion definitely has reputation for being spooky right? Would you say you avoid all stop-motion generally because of that assumption? Great comment again I enjoy kind of dissecting why stop-motion is perceived this way. Anyways, let me recommend "The Little Prince" and "Fantastic Mr. Fox". I don't think you'll find anything scary in those.

This game is for those used to play fighting game seriously. What i mean by that is you need to embrace the suck , practice and understand that you will only get good if you complete master its mechanics. Opposed to ds1 and following games, its doesn’t offer you different approaches of beating its challenges nor the ability to grind and overcome a challenge by status. You either read its tools and understand where to use then to trim down the rng of some bosses (lady butterfly with shuriken and bells) and fully commit to be good at its combat or your simply won’t enjoy the game. The game has very cheesy mechanics that make most of the bosses a joke but you won’t be able to perform if you are not engaging with all its mechanics. Its the hardest game by from due to its limitations but its the most satisfying after because you feel as a god after you overcome a challenge. You had no options besides overcoming yourself and thats a feeling that not everyone is mentally there in that moment in their life to do it. I love sekiro and beat twice but i recently started a new game and due to life being asking more of me nowadays, I don’t have the same energy to overcome these challenges after a day of real life challenges. Its fine to want to just to relax but is amazing that sekiro had this philosophy in an age of acessibility. Artistic vision is something that i deeply respect even when i dont vibe with the game.

DS1 used to be too hard, and it became too easy so the devs increased the number of bosses and enemies (DS2) and that didn't work, so they made the enemies faster and more chaotic and subverted the mechanics, and that kinda worked but they had to increase player speed (BB). In DS3 the player moves like in DS1, but the enemies are way faster, and people still do no-hit runs. In Sekiro they increased the enemies and bosses, made them faster and more chaotic, and subverted the mechanics. And for most of the community that was the straw that broke the camel's back. But then there are still some people doing no-hit runs, somehow.

I was frustrated a lot when I first started this game, even after playing a ton of every previous souls game. But man once it clicks it just feels so good to play. Almost every boss feels completely fair, even the last boss which is one of the hardest from soft bosses ever. I love sekiro, it is my favourite game, but I think it has some of the worst early game out of all of from software's games. I think by stopping after chained ogre you are doing yourself a disservice. At least get to the first main boss. If you get there you'll start to like the game a bit more. If you push past and beat the rematch with the boss who kills you at the start, then you'll truly understand why all the people who love this game swear by it.

@ThisIsReviewable It's not for everyone. Some people just have bad taste (that's a joke lol don't take it serious). My only point is giving up after chained ogre is a huge mistake, because you're not giving yourself a chance to see what's so great about the game. Also tbh I disagree with your point that every boss has a huge learning curve after the initial one. As soon as you figure out the flow of: "1. Press R1 (deliberately, don't spam) until your opponent parries, 2. respond to your opponents attack (by parrying/dodging/mikiri etc), 3. repeat." All the bosses are fairly easy to learn, especially compared to melee only runs of Elden Ring. They just have a small margin for error. The bits that are very frustrating are managing multiple enemies.
