What a lovely summer day! Strong enough to do some 360s and to venture down the beach aways. Looks like perfect conditions. Also nice that the gate is open. Did they leave it open all the time or do you open it just when you fly?
@iandayble13 күн бұрын
It was a beautiful day ! - And a Happy Silly Season to you ! We have an arrangement that the gate MUST be closed unless a pilot is on the ground. We just ask an onlooker to close it for us if we are the last one off. Works well !

I'm always amazed at your ground handling skill to clear that little fence! I could use a bit of coastal soaring right now, there hasn't been anything decent here for the last 3 weeks. Either wrong direction, cold, blown out, or no wind at all. Sure looks like a beautiful day! I love the steely Gray color of the ocean when it's cloudy

How long can you stay up?
@iandaybleАй бұрын
Hi, as long as the wind is strong enough and in the right direction. Can be hours. Inland thermalling like an eagle can be all day. over 500 km in 10 hours...

I like how the authorities have allowed you a gate to launch through. Really nice site

There's another gated launch spot with a ramp round the corner on Golf Links Road facing south over Bass Strait. I can remember as a kid back in the 70's when Hang Gliders used it all the time... these days I never see anyone there other than the occasional model glider enthusiast, but it must be used by someone as it is maintained.

Wish we had these rigs when I was hang-gliding in '76.. Coastal soaring is the best. Thanks for sharing this footage. Safe skies.

So the wing has ridges in it that fill of air, and make baffles that help stir it straight, and the stops, or leading edges are controlled by the pulling of cords down to maneuver or when landing help flare and slow down?
@iandayble3 ай бұрын
Yes, except the 2 control lines pull down the trailing edge. Pull right and the right edge causes some drag and the wing steers right.. Pull both brakes to slow and land. Its very easy.

i had a hell HG flight there years ago. 20-25 on launch. Within a few airborne minutes, gusting as high as 40kts. Mates on the ground started packing up and asking over the UHF how many streets back they should drive to pick me up. Pricks..

What a gorgeous day! Very nice of the owners of those million-dollar properties to let you launch from their immaculate grassy lawns. I've been contributing to the Australian economy, I've been ordering gear from Fly2Base. It's not that I love paying exorbitant shipping fees, it's just that oftentimes they're the only people that I can find that have what I need

Love these coastal videos! I can almost smell the sea breeze. I miss my A4. I sold it to a friend for a really good price, because I had too many wings and I wasn't flying it very much. I'm hoping that the A5, when it comes out next year, will be a good wing and I can afford to buy one.

Yes, i am very happy with it too. Only problem is controlling it on the ground on a windy slope..

It looks delightful there, we've had endless days of 42 Celsius here. the worst year for flying in El Paso since I started paragliding in 2015. It's been either blown out, or two East, or so hot that it drains me of any desire to go hike.
@iandayble5 ай бұрын
I know the feeling. Setting up on launch in really hot weather is not fun. Hey, come to Oz and i will show you some nice ( cooler ) coastal sites ! Having said that we have had the usual cold days here midwinter 14C ( 58f ) But we don't have to listen to Trump...!
