Listen - no offense to other actresses, but it amazes me how anyone else dared to take the role of Catwoman after you

Thank you for this. I am a genuine Trekker from childhood in the 1960s. I saw the model in 1978 when it was first hung in the Museum with silly 'turkey-red' hemispheres instead of the rotating nacelle caps. They had actually wired up the original nacelles -- but they were done with frail thin wiring -- and for a few moments they lit up and spun, then burned out. The Smithsonian opted for strobing red hemispheres -- ACK! So wonderful to see our fine lady presented properly!

Thanks for this video. I am an original trekkie from 1966, and, believe me, I never tire of watching young people react so positively to Star Trek TOS (The Original Series). 🙂

They should make a fiction section to the museum where all the science fiction models go along with all the moon landing models.

I hate to do the "Actually" thing, but that isn't the first model of the Enterprise. For those that don't know, the 11 foot model was used for a large majority of the FX shots in TOS, but it was late being delivered and so Gene Roddenberry relied on using the 3 foot (33") model that was built as a prototype for the 11 footer in its place for the first pilot "The Cage" and the 11 footer was only used for the iconic "Fly over and zoom in" shot at the beginning. The 3 foot model was used here and there for a few effects shots and was the last of the two to be filmed. It is also in the opening titles of all three season as the "whooshing" Enterprise. The 3 foot model was thought forever lost after Gene loaded it back to Paramount for the Phase II TV series production as a reference, but it never got returned. However, the model resurfaced last year in a storage unit that was bought up in auction when the original renters stopped payments on it, and it was returned to the Roddenberry estate. Another interesting thing and a source of controversy in the model and prop side of Trek fandom was if the 11 footer was built fully complete all around and then damaged to put the lights in for the second pilot "Where No Man Has Gone Before", or if it had only ever been the starboard side completed, even when the model had no lights originally for "The Cage". The answer is mostly the former is more correct than the latter. A photo resurfaced thanks to Star Trek art department alumnus Doug Drexler showing the model from the port side during filming of the second pilot with early wiring in place, but also showing the model had a lot more detail done on it than anyone previously thought, including windows, technical markings, and the red Starfleet pennants stripes. But it lacked a few other details that the starboard side had, such as the small block piece part of the deflector, and the side trench. What was there was clearly there before the wiring was installed and was being obliterated and obscured due to this kludge of adding the wiring in. This shouldn't have been a surprise as the 3 footer was built with both sides complete and detailed. This is why, despite the damage done to work in the wiring for the windows, running lights and nacelle domes, there's the pennant and registry numbers still on the port side nacelle. That was really all that was left.

I'd never heard Bettie speak before. I can hear that she hasn't lost her southern drawl. I agree with her requesting not to be seen. I'm 74 years old now and I don't like the way I look now-a-daze either.

She was gorgeous, but didn't realize she had such a southern drawl. Very straight shooter and her comments about seeing people when they were younger and beautiful, yeah she's definitely a realist. Although today she probably would not agree with Martha Stewart being on the cover at 80 LOL
