[The claim that bread is bad for birds is a despicable corporate hoax] Bread isn't "bad" for birds. It offers no nutritional value for birds. It's essentially junk food for them. It will fill them up to the point where they don't eat anything else. "Bread is like junk food to birds, primarily ducks and geese. In parks, it can become the bulk of their diet leading to nutritional deficiencies that prevent their wings from growing properly. The condition is called angel wing, where the wrist joint of the wing bends out at an awkward angle away from the body. The flight feathers are also affected, growing only the center quil with very little of the branching barbs that give feathers their structure. Obviously these birds can't fly and have trouble keeping up with their flock and traveling to find enough food. For ducks and geese, you can feed corn, oats, frozen-thawed peas, and lettuces (dark leafy kinds like kale and spinach, not iceberg) " So yes if a waterfowl's main diet consists of bread they CAN develop angelwing because of the malnutrition.

First of all, thank you for your serious reply. But I have to point out that your reply is full of clichés and half-baked knowledge of all those who helped spread the lies fabricated by this enterprise, as well as a clear lack of basic knowledge and logical thinking. For example, you replaced all situations with special situations that you imagined. It is very likely that the ducks in the small ponds in some small parks in some cities did have some health problems because they had no choice but to eat too much bread due to the comprehensive control of the environment by humans. So this was immediately magnified in your mind that all birds in the world were overfed and had to diet to lose weight... What's even more ridiculous is that [Angel Wings are originally a genetic defect], which was also fantasized by you uneducated and half-baked people into [Angel Wings from Eating Bread]! To be frank, people like you know almost nothing about all scientific common sense except for the superficial understanding of general medical knowledge of the human body. But you just like to give lectures everywhere! Can you, people with a questionable culture, really feel so much pleasure and satisfaction by limiting others' freedom and happiness based on some hearsay lies and your own unfounded imagination? I pity you.

Why are you so angry? Is everyone who spreads misinformation this angry? Bread offers nothing to birds on a nutritional level. Angel Wing is a condition that affects mostly waterfowl, caused by a nutritional deficiency in vitamins and minerals combined with a high level of carbohydrates and sugars. Bread is essentially a sugar to them. Thus high sugars in their diet and them not eating other things to supplement means they could develop this. Birds that eat nothing but bread COULD develop Angelwing. Would you want to eat styrofoam peanuts? Because that’s all that bread is to birds - worthless filler with very little to no nutritional value. It starves them of nutrients, can cause obesity, and makes them sick, and in extreme cases can cause physical deformities such as “angel wing”. Granted this is in LARGE numbers meaning waterfowl fed almost exclusively bread. A piece of bread here and there is no problem but when they stop seeking out other foods because bread is around they develop problems. Grow up. Stop denying science and stop insulting your small community with your misinformation.

@@SwanLove_ Says the one confidently and harmfully claiming 'corporate hoax'. I'd like to see a *single* professional or scholar agree with *that* particular assessment. I also have to wonder what 'corporate' possibly has to gain from spreading such a 'hoax'. The simple truth is that bread won't kill birds outright, but it isn't particularly healthy in the long term either; and malnutrition does lead to conditions like angelwing; which can be lethal to birds. I absolutely understand not wanting to get called out on that constantly; and just wishing to take joy in feeding the birds at times. But it's nonetheless a valid concern for park animals that get fed the same food constantly, and claiming it's a hoax and telling others they "know nothing" is not the right way to handle people voicing such scrutiny. I've been guilty of feeding birds pieces of bread, myself. No, it doesn't make you a terrible person, and no, it doesn't immediately kill the birds. But remaining aware of the risk of excess is a good thing; and I'll never fault anyone for wishing to point that out. It's not out of malice; we simply care about the birds, and we all want them to stay healthy.

I also know something about the experience of the mute swan in the United States. I can only say that this behavior [first comes from ignorance]. It is believed that the mute swan has existed in the Americas 15,000 years ago. So if we talk about who is an invasive species, I think modern Americans are one of the latest invasive species. Another reason is [because of the laziness of government workers] - if they are all eliminated, there is no need to manage... "Less work + more salary", this seems to be the common ideal of civil servants in every place. In our lake area, this year, because government workers acted recklessly, they carried out large-scale cutting of reeds in the lake area just because they didn't want to work, which caused almost all waterfowl in the lake area to suffer a catastrophe this year. Whether it is the decision maker or the executor - these people should be sent to prison! The third reason is [because of greed] humans completely ignore the interests of all other species (of course, including other humans) for their own little interests. In order to please some voters, government officials and politicians are also cheering for this endless greed...

@@ghostcreeper_ This method is unreliable. In the case of Canada geese, we often cannot even tell the male and female of a couple by their size. It is one of the few animals where the male and female have almost no difference in appearance. If this is the case for a couple, it is almost impossible to tell who is who in a group of Canada geese by subtle differences.

First, your theory that bread is harmful is a corporate lie, and you must stop jumping on the bandwagon of spreading this lie. Secondly, uncooked beans are poisonous. I'm sure you don't know if raw beans are also poisonous to birds, but you clearly don't care. Third, I have fed swans cooked canned green beans and they were not interested. So, congratulations on getting another perfect score.

According to my observation, little swans actually don’t recognize people very well. At least I didn't feel like they really recognized me like their parents. During the more than half a year with their parents, the only thing they focused on was eating... Other skills can be cultivated slowly, after all, swans have a long lifespan. Survive first before talking about anything else! I think this is the survival strategy in the cygnets’ genes.

The answer to the so-called question you mentioned is in the link above. People with a little bit of culture or who really care about this issue will take it upon themselves to find the truth. Even if you are really too lazy to type on the keyboard yourself, at least if someone else has found the information for you, you won’t be exhausted if you click in and take a look. So, stop pretending you actually care about wildlife! So, at least stop helping black-hearted companies spread the lies they create!
