Oh I remember this show. This is when yall get shafted at the showcase thing and some piano-bar band won lol. However yall still got to open for Seether and Black Crows so I guess yall really won lol

Wait or was this vinos? Chad is standing where I used to play and I don’t remember there being that much room at Juanita’s on that side of the stage.

Ahhh. Not Vinos. Commented before I saw Juanita’s infamous pole lol.

I was there. Honestly, I was a bit terrified. I loved heavy music, but had never experienced anything quite like Zao up to that point. The pit that formed towards the middle of the tent was insane, too.

The placement of Jesse's drum kit (i.e., facing away from most of the audience) seems odd. Was this typical back then, or was there something about the venue that made it necessary?

Dude. Just normal looking guys, in normal clothes, but they hit so much harder than so many other bands.

Will Boyd, like the others who came nd went back then, was just hired as a live and session player. He wasn't in Evanescence, Evanescence was just the duo of Amy and Ben.

I saw Zao at Cornerstone Florida in 2003 and the living sacrifice drummer played for them. I had asked Dan if Jesse was coming to the fest and he said ‘I dunno, we didn’t ask him’ lol

This footage blew my mind. Drummer’s an absolute machine. Gotta love his work ethic. Musical historians will be reviewing this footage in the years to come.

This was my first Cornerstone Fest, had an amazing time! Love metal then and still do, but this was not my scene at all! I remember peeking my head in the tent and lasting about thirty seconds thinking "What da???!" I was 35 years old at the time, so well beyond what the kids were into, actually I was just getting into goth around then, loved the Saviour Machine show! I began to appreciate Zao when they re-released "All Else Failed", some real metal riffs there, so I went back and discovered "Blood and Fire" too be pretty good as well.

So what was with Jesse facing away from the audience?
@NICKGUTTED5 ай бұрын
That was the way they did back then I guess. I saw a lot of late 90s early 00s bands play that way….maybe has to do with guitar monitors back then…either way it’s epic.

I'm not saying today's hardcore music sucks, because there's a lot of great new bands (Jesus Piece, Knocked Loose, Malevolence, etc.) coming from the scene, but sometimes I wish time machines existed so I could go back in time and visit shows like these.
