‘Popo Up’?

I was also curious about doing portraits in landscape mode. The reason being is that when I print them out, and if most of my pictures are landscape, I don’t want to mix it with portraits were I would have to turn the book a quarter turn to see a Portrait and then back again. Thanks for your video!

Hi, Bernie , can this machine move side by side with underspin, so I can practice against chopper? Thanks.
@bernieraffe2 жыл бұрын
Yes, if you watch from about 3 minutes in you will see that it can oscillate from side to side and you will also see that it can produce underspin. It can do both at the same time.

Hi sir....with wide angle zoom setting in flash will not the light spill out side the umbrella also...basically instead of using a costly softbox we using umbrella the wide angle settings will reduce the effect further?i agree the lighht will be spread and more soft...but the spilling?please suggest
@bernieraffe2 жыл бұрын
No, I have not seen any evidence of light spilling out from the sides of the umbrella. If you do, then you could simply move the speedlight closer along the umbrella shaft, but I have never had to do that.

I don't know if I agree with the opening statement. I did a family shoot and had some mediocre expressions looking at the camera, but were in sharp focus. I was able to coax out some candid expressions of them looking at each other but these were sadly out of focus and therefore unusable. My point is, if people are paying you, you best be sure you have perfect focus most of the time. A great expression is useless if you don't capture it. That said, if you want a good photograph, you have to master both. And I fully agree with teenagers and kids. They never seem to like having their pictures taken. Good tips here which I will add to my arsenal, thanks

Useless video. I was expecting that you'd explain how to change the settings of the camera to capture scenes when the sun is in the opposite direction to us
@bernieraffe2 жыл бұрын
I do apologise for having to obey the law of physics! Despite your expectations, there are no settings that will darken the skies without also darkening the foreground and potentially ruining the photos. Although the 'Blue Sky' effect can be achieved by using a graduated Neutral Density filter or during post processing, those topics are not the subject of this video.

AF-S BB: Press back button to focus > release BB to lock focus > recompose > take picture. SB: Press shutter button to lock focus > recompose > take picture. AF-C BB: Press and hold the back button to focus > follow subject > take picture SB: Press the shutter button to focus > follow subject > take picture. What is the difference?
@bernieraffe2 жыл бұрын
The differences between back button focusing and using the shutter button and the advantages of back button focusing are set out and explained from timecode 4:42. But for example, In your first scenario, you have to keep your finger on the shutter button to keep the focus locked, not so for BBF. Also, if you want to take a second shot using the shutter button, you have to repeat the process, not so with BBF.

The better older flash units usually had clip on adaptors that included diffusers. Dirt cheap on Ebay as long as you can get the diffuser.

Bernie very nice shoot. Thanks to you and to your beautiful model; don't let her go. She can work with you in the next 2 videos. I'm probably a bit older than you are and working with the younger generations is always very pleasant. I think it gives us a breath of that long gone youth.

I would have posted the rest of this video, but Bou got changed and she erm... exposed a little too much flesh in the breast department by accident, so I thought it may have broken KZbin rules!

Reason #1 is now pretty invalid. Almost everyone is now viewing stuff online from their phone, which is portrait. I'm watching your video on my laptop but 99% of my time scrolling through social media or google is on my phone. And Reason #2 you used a different "cropping" technique for the girl in the cafe. If you cropped it by cutting it down, it would have been fine as the crop would be just above her head. The plates and surrounding would be gone, but it's still a portrait. All you did was extend the image. Not like the other example though.
