In East Africa (e.g., in Tanzania 🇹🇿), her skin colour, hair texture and facial features are considered black/African. There are light-skinned people with similar features to her, but they are never deemed mixed with anything. Because we believe African skin comes in different shades and tones. However, for you to be considered coloured/mixed heritage, you need to have Eurocentric/ Asian (Indian/Arab) passing features such as a thin and straight nose, curly hair and small/medium lips; having light skin is an exception. You will find mixed-race people with different skin colours ranging from light to dark-brown skin. I know this sounds ridiculous to me as well since we are all black/Africans with the black DNA tuning to our veins. 😞 In my community, our definition of mixed race is:- One white parent/Asian + 1 Black parent For you to be considered coloured (which is a term we NEVER use), you must come from a lineage of mixed-race people. For example, one of your parents or grandparents must have mixed blood, specifically from Indian, Arab, and a bit of European DNA. These groups of people are prevalent in the Northeast, e.g., the Arusha and Kilimanjaro regions, and Coastal communities such as Tanga, Zanzibar, and Pemba in Tanzania.

Colored are are black light skinned people, look at your nose hair, lips all your features. Most of your white parents were rapis*. Colored people of South Africa need to travel to Europe or America and they will know who they are. You no where next to white, not with that Afro hair and the African features on your face

I had a Coloured Wife. While im white. We had two children together. I knew Her for about 12 years. She was killed in a car accident with Friends who had been drunk driving. Also a Coloured thing. My Experience is that not all,but most Coloureds are Loud. They also do not like to be Corrected. I have known the Coloured Culture since I was a Boy,now 50. They like to Borrow money. No sense of Priorities. Not all are like that. Every second Person is a Pastor or Priest. Not all White People are the same, not all Coloureds are the same.

Black people are so colonized in their minds, it’s a big old shame. We’ve been colonized for centuries, and we continue on being colonized still in 3024. We ought to be forgiven because the white masters have brainwashed the black race so deeply, it’s a shame the colonizers have erased black peoples’ identities. There are so many sub-races within the one-black race, while all the whites are only white. Such confusion they’ve infuse into the black race to make many other races from just one race calling them colored, and the colored have so many denominations and connotations, that is very sad. What does ways of speaking, whether proper English usually that’s the language or speaking any other language have to do with race? Nothing. Ladies and gentlemen there are only three races: the black race (All blood Africans); the red race(Indians of the Americas); and the yellow race which are the Asians of Asia. Why do the white and red and yellow races remain the same with no nuances, no shades in between their race, and the black race is so divided and so layered in blackness??? That is the doctrine of dividing to conquer: the divider being the white colonizers and the concord is the black race. We got to do something about it, because the black race is confused. Confused!!!

Racially you are much like the blacks in America. ADOS. You look like some AA women I know. I get mistaken as biracial here. I am admixed with black, white and native American according to DNA. But identify as black or African American. This is very much the same experience lighter skin black people in the USA have. Not accepted authentically by majority of white or our own black people...without a unconscious prejudice that pre-exist them knowing us. In the USA blacks re prejudged by everyone.. and will be discriminated as such by non blacks & even immigrants who have prejudices. Some black people who are not light skin can also have prejudices. They assume you think you are better and have ulterior motives. You can't just exist around most and show up. They very closely examine you and prejudge you. You learn to ignore others and just live your life. It really is their own issue and not yours. But it can effect you socially and I get it. The world is backwards in many ways. We were put here, we didn't make it or create the issues in society. We were given labels to confuse us, separate us and set up classism amongst us. Willie lynch. The issue is some here still choose to carry on the ideologies and perpetuate them in todays world. Colonization did a lot and many across the world are still effected by it. When we learn to treat others with respect and care, we can began to heal each other. We are all one across the diaspora and homeland. Actually everyone on earth is Gods workmanship. Thanks for sharing your story.

Firstly we are not Coloured. We are Aboriginal people. Before the white people and black people came to our land we used to look like this. This thing of us being coloured is to keep us away from what really belongs to us.Yes some of us Aboriginal people have been married to black and white people but we were never mixed. Its these people (Black and White )who are trying to take away our real identity by saying we are from their DNA.The name Coloured was given to us by Verwoerd. To steal what rightfully belongs to us.(THIS LAND CALLED SOUTH AFRICA).All the other nations found us the Aboriginal people here. Please go and do your research so that you must not say we are originally from Black and White. They want us to think like that.

Hi there, i have met a S. African and learned of ur struggles living in S. Africa. It's similar to the struggles that many people of color face here in America and all over the world. I apprecia* love the fact that you mustered up the strength to speak ur truth. It's a shame that people like you, me and so many others even have to be subjected to such ignorance and pettiness based on skincolor😕. Long story short we are who we are. We've come 2 far to turn back now. Stay strong and continue to fight the ignorance😂. PS: I think we all should be tired of all this black/ white ish by now, who ready to settle for just being called human instead of being classified as a race? Ijs...beyond tired of all of this rhetoric😢.

i will say this, as a cape coloured that looks extremely white, my cousins and family did the same. my dad out of all his siblings was the only one that forced himself into Uni, got his law degree and successful career, even inspired a few of my cousins to pursue a career in law. he did the most for me to have better oppotunities and be better than he was. so i understand this feeling like you dont belong, but i will say this all the crap my cousins gave me when the things get real i know they have my back.

1st time watching this video. I once attended "coloured school ", for like 6 years between primary and secondary school in Durban n I thought I know their violence until I came to joburg, the shootings in CAPETOWN etc . Coloured people are violent (gangsterism perspective) I grew up knowing it's their nature as they're humans like everyone else. Media can add to the negative narrative like they usually do to other races and or other issues. Over and above coloured people are like every one else, they're humans too, they are good n bad like others, n of course there are beautiful coloured females like every other race out there

Lots of processing still to be done, by adressing the problematic, you are moving in the right direction. I grew up in Cape Town as a Cape Coloured during apartheid. I've moved abroad, due to my husband , I was forced to leave the country, due to a stupid law, Immorality Act. Anyway, I did a DNA test, 12 different ancestries and have come to realise, I belong to the human race. I live my life and don't care about the opinions of others. I work with children abroad and not once did a child ask me about my race or ethnicity . They accept me as I am, maybe later they'll start to ask questions.

As an African Male from your accent and the way you look, full lips, flat nose, I thought you were a light skinned Black Xhosa African lady. I guess not to prejudge is the key to understanding peoples backgrounds without outright telling someone what he or she is. I have lived with the Coloured community in JHB since 2008 its now 2023 and I have been treated with the outmost respect. I can confirm that all the stereotypes I had about Coloured people as an African male is all gone, and I have also taught them about African/Black culture. Its actually refreshing to live with people until you forget that you come from different back grounds, when you look at each other you see another human being NOT racial stereotype. I used to catch THE FIRST taxi every morning with a lady who only spoke English and couldnt speak Afrikaans, she was open to tell us that she had never been accepted as a coloured when she moved to Johannesburg because of that. She grew up in Durban, spoke English and understood Zulu only. Moved to JHB as an adult to live with family, the family spoke Afrikaans as a first language...SHOUT OUT TO RIVERLEA EXT. ZOMBIE. BOKSTRAAT. EXT 5. EXT 10.👋👋👋👋 AWEH!

Hi...iam Black South African man from Joburg, whos in his 40's, whos been through and experienced almost the exact same thing that you have. Basically, it boils down to this, slavery, colonization and apartheid primarily breeds two types of mentalities...a superiority complex and an inferiority complex, and in the words of the revered and renown Bernie Mac, i have only one thing to say to both of these mentalities...'F%#kk EM!!!!!!"
