They make thirteen year old boys get up in front of synagogue congregations and sing a portion of the torah (holy scroll) that they don't understand just as their voices are changing. Afterwards, there's a party for the boys families and friends. Basically, a big waste of time.

Damn short men they get to do the stuff that I'm very unlikely to ever get to do. Like cash the checks or feel up girls taller than them. I'm a 6'3 man who's not able to communicate for social or business purposes so I'll never be able to get a good job and it's very unlikely that I'll get to feel up a girl taller than me.

A mitzvah is a Hebrew ceremony where a boy or girl reach “adulthood” at age but of course they legally can’t have sex, drive, smoke, drink, or vote until they are 18-21 years old. It’s just a way to tell kids to grow up in an overrated fashion with birthday parties and going to temple

A bar mitzvah is a way of saying that you are now old enough that you are now responsible for your own actions in the eyes of god. For example, if a twelve year old steals a candy bar his parents are viewed as responsible as they didn’t teach the kid to not steal. But, if a 13 year old steals candy he is viewed as as responsible
