Great video, exactly what I want to do to my grandfather's old vise. One dumb question, any certain kind of paint?
@patnelson55093 жыл бұрын
OMG, that music was painful! I left the sound on for a while, thinking that you'd give measurements, but seriously, that music was horrific. And what good is this video if it doesn't give enough information for somebody else to build it? I was hoping to find one all worked out!
@mattyal93473 жыл бұрын
The best I can tell is you disassembled it cleaned the rust and painted it. Im used to a lot more so forgive me if I seem critical. I would be impressed if you made a selection of jaws that interchanged with your vice that could clamp onto variable shapes

Wait, maybe those are some kind of coveralls or something. Sure as hell looked like a track suit at first. Color scheme threw me off!

A brilliant video, very well done. With respect you don’t have the tools and in truth the skill set of others who do restorations on KZbin. But you got stuck in and used your own initiative and and good old elbow grease. You ended up with a half decent job you have every right to be proud of, and it will now last you many years.

You could have used another vice to hold your vice, also WD-40 is your friend. I'm trying to figure out if I can replace or fix my snapped spindle, it broke at the inside end. It's slightly different with no pin at the crank end & a spring. I rescued it from a fire years ago, got it working reasonably well but it needed a new spring(springs & magnets don't like fire), I left it outside over winter & when I recently tried to use it the end of the spindle snapped.

Just an fyi. When the cup grinding wheel runs low on wire you can cut off that silver sleeve to reveal more length! But don't do it until its worn or it will cause the wire to bend out under the rotational forces.

Yeah why didn't you grind off the dust and crap inside the garage, and then blow it all over the garage with the air hose like everyone else. Then later it will settle on everything inside the garage, and in your lungs :-).
