The worlds of jazz, R&B, and the Great American Songbook have been lesser without Natalie’s bright light. She was an absolute queen. While we all wish she were still with us, we can take comfort that she has long since reunited with her beloved father.

Basically: IT'S TOO HIGH OF AN OCTAVE FOR THE GENERAL PUBLIC TO SING! Unless the general public had the speaking/chest vocal range of Mariah Carey, Kelly Clarkson, Christina Aguilera, and Ariana Grande... It's too difficult to sing without it being too low or too high and that could result in many voice cracks.

I wasn't surprised after all she is and always will be the Queen. Nailed it!!!

for my part Mariah does not have enough vocal power to gospel with the queen of soul, Celine has more clarity and treble to exchange with Aretha, we can hear Mariah's breathlessness, the magic of the studio and the pre-recordings has nothing to do with live performances

You should have definitely mentioned "I Wish You Well" from her E=MC2 album! It's a pure gospel injection that directly quotes Bible verses even, very inspirational.

I realize time and time again how genius Mariah's songwriting and how insane her vocal abilities are.

Johnny Mathis doesn't get his props and it's terrible. Rappers do but real singers have to wait in line.

The range is wide, but not absurdly so. I reckon Bb is the natural choice of key for most people.
