I love shooting towards the sun with my Pixel 8 Pro, it sometimes creates amazing effects. Appreciate the before and after shots you showed here, really goes to show how much you can still achieve with a "regular" photo by tweaking the colors, contrast etc. Have you noticed a big difference between the cameras of the 9 Pro and the 8 Pro? They sounded very similar on paper and the 9 series mostly focuses on even more AI gimmicks.

I can't wait to get back out taking pictures again. Personally I love taking pictures of things. Not a big fan of taking pictures of people. Of course part of that is there's no people in my life I can take pictures of 😅 I definitely need more videos like this On a side note, I bought my Dad a S24 FE and after using it for a while I'm definitely more excited about the S25U. I prefer curved screens and backs but the flat sides of the S24 FE feels a lot better than I anticipated it would

@05:50 Yes! That is exactly what I appreciate about this channel. Most others are usually either focusing on casual point & shoot photography with a phone OR high-end real camera photography. I'm exactly in the middle where I appreciate the advanced tools the Pixel 8 Pro offers in terms of camera settings without being interested in getting a professional camera and calling myself a "real" photographer 📸

Well, i cant agree now. Telephoto camera of Pixel 8 pro is not great at all. In low light, there is soo much noise and focus hunting. Even pixel cant shift to tele camera in low light, instead, it crops from main sensor.

I was an iPhone user since the 3GS until the 15 pro max. But that terrible 5x 12mp NOISE canon is insanely bad. I swear to god even the pixel 6 pro has a better zoom lense. I even printed out some beautiful pictures from the 6 pro. But currently on the vivo x100 pro until the pixel has smooth app scrolling and a processor done by TSMC and not samsung potato factory.

Hey man, just switched from an iPhone 11 to a Pixel 8 Pro as I got an amazing deal for £400 boxed. I had no idea the cameras were this good! I just heard it was the phone best for longtime apple users to switch to but oh my god. I've just been randomly taking photos and videos of everything.
@DalevonDigital-Photography4 ай бұрын

@joshuabergeman3544 ай бұрын
People are going to tell you that you should try a Xiaomi or a Vivo or OPPO, and maybe you should. But I wouldn't recommend it because phones are more than just cameras and unless the whole package works for you it's just going to end up being a waste of money. But you know want to know what really bugs me? It's the way people are so committed to the best. I mean it doesn't make sense to me, it really doesn't. Like I see people bashing the cameras on the S24U/Samsung all the time and they're not wrong but I don't care. I have fun taking pictures with my S24U and that what matters to me. I love that I can create my own custom filters. I don't understand why I can't shoot with filters in the high res modes but that's probably because I'm dumb 😅
@DalevonDigital-Photography4 ай бұрын
Oh for sure, the Pixel is the best I've used so far. Do i want to use every high end phone and do photography with it. I sure do. But I dont have the budget and those phones aren't available here. And you right its not just about the camera it has to be usable also or at least if I even like the software. And Pixels get bashed on daily but I love it. So i relate you to when you say that about Samsung.
@cguralol4 ай бұрын
I've tried the vivo x100 pro and ultra, sure, those phones are incredible in terms of photography and videography but in many aspects of what constitutes a phone they lack in some things as the software and user Experience. So for me, Pixel is the best, I'm a pixel 6 pro user and honestly wouldn't change it untill pixel 10 probably
@joshuabergeman3544 ай бұрын
@cguralol it really does come down to software. I have the OPPO Find X7U and I think it's a great phone that I love taking pictures with. But, as much as I love it I end up picking up my S24U more often than not because I prefer what I get from OneUI. That's not to say that ColorOS is bad, or even lacking really, it's just I have a preference for OneUI. And I know for a fact that plenty of people actually dislike OneUI. It all comes down to preference. And in my experience the trick is finding the right software experience for you personally. Everything else is secondary at this point.

Great information once again! Every time I watch one of your videos, I just wanna grab my phone and go take pictures. Btw, here's my favorite portrait mode fail: I took a portrait picture of a coffee mug and after processing, it did a decent job on the edge detection. However, the camera treated the inside of the mug's handle (where your finger goes when holding it) as the same depth as the rest of the object. So I had this sharp looking mug surrounded by a blurry background but then you could also see a sharp bit of background inside of the handle. Kinda looked like there was a small photo stuck in there. Very bizarre. I thought cameras like the Pixel 8 Pro's also use some sort of actual depth perception (by using two lenses to look at stuff) rather than 100% relying on post-processing, so it feels like the edge detection should work better than it actually does. Anyway, looking forward to the next video. Can you maybe do one on nature photography with smartphones? Nothing insane like snapping pics of cheetahs in the wild, just some general tips about what to pay attention to when taking pictures of plants, insects, landscapes, sunsets etc.

Watching this video twice because I'm trying to put off doing what I need to be doing, which is trying to see if I can fix my car. It's got a coolant leak, or at least that's what I hope the problem is and it's not a blown head gasket. But the mechanic wants $120 just to locate the leak and I don't want to spend that kind of money to not even fix it. My only problem is I don't really know what I'm doing 🤷 😅

I forgot how much I like this phone 😅 It's not perfect but nothing is 🤷 And while I prefer the form factor on my Zfold 5 this really isn't bad. And if the Zfold 7, which is probably the one I'm going to upgrade my Zfold 5 to, assuming it has better cameras, is similar to this, I wouldn't be mad. What's crazy to me with the Open is how similar it is software wise to the Find X7 Ultra. I think the Find X7 Ultra has better cameras but it probably should. And I'm definitely looking forward to comparing them once I get some decent weather 😅
@DalevonDigital-Photography7 ай бұрын
Yeah I kinda liked the form factor of the Open after using it. It's not ideal but it's something I could get used too. I just wasn't a fan of the software. I like the Samsung ZFold software but not the ratio. I love everything about the Pixel Fold software and hardware besides the cameras tho they are good. They are not flagship level good. I'm still mad about that
@joshuabergeman3547 ай бұрын
@@DalevonDigital-Photography I don't know what happened with that. I understand Google was anticipating releasing it earlier than they actually did, which is why it has the G2 instead of the G3. But what doesn't make sense is that it has worse cameras than even the Pixel 7 pro. Like seriously why didn't they just put the cameras from the 7 pro in the fold? I mean they could have waited and put the same cameras as the 8 pro, but at least the 7 pro for the price of the fold seems mandatory. And OnePlus/OPPO proves that they can put 3 relatively large sensors in a foldable.

It's crazy how much of a difference the angle makes, especially with the "No vehicles on the plaza" sign. I didn't understand the explanation for the rule of thirds and its exceptions around 12:42 though.
@DalevonDigital-Photography9 ай бұрын
Hey thanks for watching. Basically if you turn on the grid on your smartphone or camera. You will see 9 squares. The rules of thirds apply to you shooting your subject in the middle square or right on the outside of the of them. I'll make sure to include it in another video to clarify it better. So sorry.
@chris_19889 ай бұрын
Thanks for the speedy response! It's totally ok, thanks for clarifying. I just couldn't make out what you were pointing at in the video when you said where the subject should be positioned. I remember hearing somewhere that a good position is where the grid lines intersect, so whatever you're photographing ends up slightly off center of the image.
