Interesting to see that there wasn't one massive empire dominating the island/continent

There was no mention of Western Australia here. I presume much the same is true of the north shores of the Indian Ocean in WA, right?

Winter conditions can create other-worldly scenery naturally. One way is through frost heaving, which can leave geometric patterns on thin soils. Another is demonstrated by the sailing rocks of Death Valley which can be slid over thin layers of ice by the wind, leaving long tracks in their wake. Dry lake beds have become crucial in recent years as they concentrate salts dissolved from eroded mountains. These salts contain elements such as lithium, sodium, calcium, and potassium. There exists a desert succulent whose leaf tips have evolved to carry sunlight down to the photosynthetic part of the leaves, allowing most of the plant to hide in the soil.

yeah this was 100% what I needed. I definitely am fudging a lot of stuff (there's a big ol' definitely-not-las-vegas city in the middle of the desert, but there was an oasis that was magically enhanced by water controlling mage-types.) but this was an excellent video that gve me awesome ideas for the desert

I find religion such an interesting concept especially with a mostly unbiased approached. I guess the idea of a heaven like utopia after death is such a good motivation for functional and more moral societies. Or controlling shamans or preachers over a tribe or society is an interesting add on to a storyline or a complete plot. Thanks for such a awesome video!!

Apparently the word “climate” in a title triggers an info panel. 🤷‍♂️ I think the title confused the algorithm

Also note that deserts come in forms an area lile north africa famius for the desert isnt all desert there is alot of grenwry mainly near the coasts and inland like in morocco algeria tunisia and eastern libya, and its possible for solid states without oasis inland without them struggling for water and not every group needs to be nomadic for example some amazigh are nomadic mainly sputhern tuaregs but most are settled even without oasis or with oasis

I am always thinking about how I can make my fantasy races have characteristics that bind them to certain lifestyles. That way when it's asked why does Scippan (dwarf analog) live in caves they have a reason at which that it's best they live there that cannot be easily disrupted by technology. I always hate when you get to a point of dwarves with steam punk, but also they dont often go above ground. Or eleves that have all the time in the universe to do big things or procreate that are just lazy. I like to attempt to explain it through a new biology and system of biological progression that links them to the locations they always seem to seek. I love this theory for humans and possibly other subsections of races. I am wondering if you have considered covering the topic of making species/races that actually seek the locations they typically are for biological deterministic reasons? Rather than the over played homeland/values of home type reasoning. I know it's not a typical Map thing but it'd be neat to have so it may explain tendencies among species/races

By any chance are you an anthropology major? It’s my major I’m currently studying, and I swear this overlaps far too much to be a coincidence unless you happen to be a history/geography guy.

I'm always reminding others and myself that when humans speak of saving nature, they are actually speaking of saving themselves. Shintoism has had the insight that nothing exists seperate from nature
