Best train ride I've ever had in my life! Only the line was a lot less developed when I made the journey. Wondrous place, breath-taking vistas, amazing engineering. The Swiss are damn good at building railways - through anything and at any angle.

Why is it built like that? With the raw rock tunnel exposed?

We did this journey on 18 August 1998 from Wilderwil to Schynige Platte, walked to and from Daube, and caught the train from Schynige Platte to Wilderwil.

I stayed a few days in Interlaken in '87 with a lovely Spanish lady and skied the area. Truly a memorable experience and the train up to Klein Scheidegg (this one) was certainly as memorable as the skiing. Enjoy spectacular views of the Eiger, Monck and Jungfrau. Ski the longest downhill course on the circuit. There is too much to expound upon. A lovely area that I'd love to return to

I’m planning to get Married next year, and for our Honeymoon we will be doing the ‘Grand Tour’ of Europe on InterRail passes, and Switzerland is high on the Priority List.

Greetings from Berlin, NY where we used to have an ox team called 'Chip' and 'Dale' and they paraded around NY at festivals and fairs and were very well known pair, alas, this ended twenty years ago and both are now buried on our mountain. We miss them both!

Nice video Amit. I had a lof of memories when watching it from my hike up to Pilatus and then down with the train. I'm curious if you your video will get more views next summer. My video of the Pilatus was by far the most sucessful one so far. Best, Benjamin

Amazing! But now imagine a working life of driving the first train - 40+ years of THAT view, all day long, every working day! Wouldn't one look forward to going to hell, just for the variety of new scenery?
