Is this considered a pressure bandage. We use this to cover a bleeding port pocket(using, sutures, dermabond, and silverlon first) I thought we stretch it to get the pressure down on the gauze
@Stepwards
@Stepwards Ай бұрын
Generally tegaderm is not recommended for use as a true pressure dressing. In many patients the stretching of the bandage will cause the skin to break down and get damaged. You want to avoid having the skin under constant tension (which is often what stretching the tegaderm will do as it tries to regain its original shape). In the context you mentioned its always better to establish hemostasis for the port pocket PRIOR to bandaging. This is a few reasons, one being that you don't want to close a port that is actively bleeding as the blood will sit in the pocket and serve as culture medium for any possible infection. It is good practice to apply pressure to the port pocket, stop the bleeding, suture/dermabond etc, and then with the tegarderm above apply it firmly but gently to avoid skin breakdown. Hope this is helpful.

@@Stepwardsthanks for your reply! That makes sense! Thanks for your video I’m an X-ray tech training in IR and even the basic videos are extremely helpful! I used this tegaderm gauze technique today and it worked out great!

35 years as tech, son, you suck and this and should stay home so as not to be an infection control risk! You clearly have never been properly trained. probably not even certified. , That is NOT how it is done, you are contaminated. YOU do NOT open glove on the other hand, and you are now unsterile, and have compromised that case, and all the effort that went into making a sterile field, all the effort of the patient taking time, and the expenses for such an expensive surgical suit as to provide a sterile environment, all went to shi t, because you are not trained to actually do that job! I fear for your patients. It is not how you don the second glove, your left glove and cuff are contaminated, Read any of the accredited texts on that job and you will see that you suck at this.

Hey I have a question what are those lines in the middle of the skull or those veins or fractures
@Stepwards
@Stepwards Жыл бұрын
Those are called skull sutures. They are not fractures but rather where distinct bones of the skull come together to meet.

can you use tegaderm dressings over sutures?
@Stepwards
@Stepwards Жыл бұрын
Tegaderm can be used over sutures however it is generally important to not place the tegaderm directly over any exposed suture material as it will stick to it. There are a few variations of how to apply this dressing which include using a telfa dressing to keep the tegaderm from sticking to things unnecessarily.

A lot of surgeons prefer to use a smaller needle to start their arteriotomy in case they perforate the back of the blood vessel
