Good work on the videos. I like that you have them shorter by speeding up the video at the routine parts - I don't like having to watch 30 minutes video for 5 minutes of content. I also like that you use text headers for the lure data and paint colors - I find that useful. I also like that you have good voice over audio and I can clearly understand what you are saying. This was a great video to stream line the process of making perch lures and I'm going to will try it this weekend. Keep up the good work.

I know this will be tough to believe but it is true. Just this morning I painted two small ploppers like this one with a bone colored body (mixed 10 drops of opaque white and two drops of any yellow to get the bone color. I will do both with this pattern. Two days I ago I did a bone plopper on a 130 mm and painted red under gill plate -- fins and then using a handmade stencil painted a set of fins on belly between the side fins and two more in front of the split between the body and tail and then a light red throat. Sent it north to the Chippewa Flowage outside Hayward, WI (The Musky Capital of the World) where my friend caught an undersize Wisconsin State fish this morning. Give it a try. Also red hooks -- a #1 on the tail and a #2 on the belly and a small split ring on the front line attachment. Our experience is be ready for a t-bone attack more times that a rear attack. Good luck.

I like the " straight to the point " videos with no blah,blah,blah about stuff that doesn't matter. This is educational and inspiring. I just started painting lures a few months ago and hopefully, when I get enough experience, I'll be able to share what I've learned with videos like yours. Thanks man. I'm gonna give this one a try. 👍new subscriber

Great idea making the stripes by masking off the stencil. Thx! Extra tip…..when mixing epoxy I use a popsicle stick you can get at the dollar store. Clip the end off flat with side cutters so you can totally scrape the bottom of the mixing cup. Otherwise you can get streaks of unmixed epoxy which will result in soft spots that never cure on the finish. Also if you heat the epoxy five seconds in the microwave before stirring it gets slightly warm and mixes easier and more thoroughly

Great tips, I sometimes heat up the epoxy with a hair dryer if it’s too viscous. Thanks!

Even if the colors were darker than you desired, it won't matter much to the fish. On top water lures, they mostly see a silhouette again the light from the sky. I think the colors and eyes are great.

Iwata Eclipse HP-CS came with a 0.35 mm needle. I usually paint at anywhere from 20 to 40 psi depending on the detail I'm doing.

Your black paint appears too thick. I used to exclusively use Createx opaques and thin them at least 20%. I can then spray them at 15-20# easily. If you use Createx reducer and UVLS mixed 50/50, when added to the paint it flows and adheres much better. I think I’m switching to Golden as I believe it’s easer to shoot, but I still add UVLS so the paint flows and adheres better. If your paint is mixed correctly with the right reducer you’ll virtually never get tip dry. I would really like to be able to shoot straight from the bottle but mixing gives me significantly better results even though it’s more trouble. Your airbrush is also far easier to clean. Dropping the pressure allows more control, you have less tip dry, and less overspray On your alligator clips, putting a piece of masking tape over the teeth helps stop the clips from scratching the base paint

What can I do to avoid making the resin stiffen on the brush every time I apply it?
@FishingPhilosophy
@FishingPhilosophy 10 ай бұрын
I buy the brushes in bulk from Amazon and use a new brush per lure (or if I have a few lures ready I quickly use one brush for them). Otherwise you risk much stiffer bristles, chunks of dried epoxy, etc getting on your lure.

What airbrush kit can i get thats cheap but works.... just to see if this is something i want to do.... I've used spray paint and they turned out half decent so they would look great if i had an air brush
@FishingPhilosophy
@FishingPhilosophy 11 ай бұрын
I started using a cheap Master airbrush set (compressor, hose, airbrush) from Amazon and did not like the results. I moved to the Iwata Eclipse HP-CS and love it. It is not a cheap brush though at about $150 from Hobby Lobby. The Iwata Neo is supposed to be a good beginner brush which is around $70 on Amazon. The Badger Patriot 105 is also supposed to be a good beginner brush and is about $100 on Amazon. Don't forget, if you don't already have it, you'll need a compressor, hose and water trap. For my use, one of those small fan compressors does the job but if you're doing a quantity of lures you might want to have a tank compressor on hand.
