Great job, I had no issues with the outside of the glass on a 30 year old car BUT the inside of one kept steaming up, watched a couple of videos on here and bought a 2nd hand unit and got it fitted and then cleaned and sealed my old lamp and now keeping until the 2nd hand one fails or steams up. The edge seal between glass and housing is the culprit in my case.

If water goes trough the glass lenses and plastic frames, them the glass must be remove, everything cleaned from the old glue and then reseal them back with new one. After it dries test it with spraying water and blowing with compressed air if it still lest water trough.

Do you have any details of how you did this and what parts you used please?
@Headlights.restorations3 жыл бұрын
You can find them on ebay or aliexpress. Just look for the aliminium ones as they are much more reliable. Power is taken from some unimportant fuse from the fuse box in the engine bay. The LED bulb is inserted in the indicators and there is adapter that fits on the lamp housing. It's super simple. www.ebay.com/itm/123709199079 Everything was done when the headlights was removed for full refurbish including rechromed reflectors

I owned a Jetta 1.9 and replaced with the Jag X type 2.0 diesel. I think the Jetta might of had more fuel in the tank? Another factor on the Jetta is it's only 8 valves why I think the Jag's Ford 2.0 engine has 16v if I'm correct?
@Headlights.restorations5 жыл бұрын
You are correct. But the remapped jetta had 140hp with less weight. Recently I raced the jag with other cars and I suspect that the jag might been tweaked a little before I bought it because it must be slower for the results I get.
