You mentioned syringes are a problem in regular garbage, but this is not included in your list of banned materials ... All syringes should go in the biohazard bin? Our biohazard removal service takes containers of sharps but we didn't know that it should include syringes too. ???

Back in the early 70s I was serving in the then West Germany, and we would be asked by the local authority to help them distribute chicken parts that had been treated with anti rabies vaccines, this was mainly for the foxes and wild boar that roamed the forest areas. And once a year a car with a megaphone would go around warning people to keep their pets indoors on a certain day as they were rounding up all the strays animals as part of their rabies programme. Don't know if it done any good but was glad to help in eradicating this terrible menace to man and animal.

So basically you are checking for obesity? What about blood tests for vitamin fats, or protein deficiencies?
@susannaburgettlvt10 ай бұрын
We check for cholesterol in a chemistry panel. There are some specialized lab tests to determine if the pet is lacking certain things in their diet that can contribute to their overall nutritional health. This is one piece of a very large puzzle regarding nutrition.

Yes, they can get ticks on them. We just pulled one off one of ours today in fact. I understand it's rare and more common to cats that have illnesses that impair there ability to self groom but it can happen.

I have not seen recommendation of how we monitor staff on a daily basis. Ideally all staff are antibody tested and then checked daily for symptoms. We consider ourselves as clear and attempting to prevent spread from clients. But staff return to work daily with the risk that they have become infected outside of work. So do we need to wear masks at work at all times. What do we do with the lunch room. How do we prevent spread between staff. I just cannot imagine that we can maintain distance at work so an asymptomatic staff member spreading the virus is a concern. So how do we monitor our staff?
@docdvmv12864 жыл бұрын
All answered as I posted question before completing the video. It is true though that social distancing in small animal clinics between staff members is not possible. Once an infected person enters the workplace will masks and hand washing be enough to protect us? Likely not and we will at some point be exposed to the virus. Even with testing and control they are not likely to be effective. I do not believe social distancing has been effective to eliminate a virus throughout history. It runs its course and we become immune, either through vaccination or through our immune status. So how will this virus progress? Will it mutate into a more virulent form or less virulent and just become a weak street virus. At which point we don't require a vaccine. So am I correct in this analysis?

The CVMA gives us an opportunity to not only take in some excellent CE and cutting edge veterinary related topics but we also see old friends within the veterinary community and can take the opportunity to visit unique locations across Canada. Looking forward to Newfoundland...it has been over 20 years since we visited "the mile"!

I'm also looking forward to attending the "cat show" with Drs. Little and O'Brien. Looks like a wonderful program again this year.
