Hey guys- how is insurance handled if I’m leasing on to a premature carrier? Conversely if I’m the carrier looking to scale and choose to accept lease on but the driver has a MC, Truck, and carries his own insurance bc he needs it to age authority. Curious how those scaenaios work.. I can ask my agent I guess but since I watch aibbed you I thought I could get some advice from you all. Thanks and really good content.

Under 26k non cdl interstate needs IRP, unless you plan on getting permit every time you cross a border.

hello, i have a quick question. My LLC in Wyoming but I live in CA. i have registered agent address but the FMCSA wont take it while applying for a DOT #. is it okay to use my home address in CA? is there any red flag and other have problems i might face?

The FMCSA needs a physical address where they can meet you face to face and review your compliance files, conduct audits, etc. There’s a lot that goes into addresses and my next video will cover it so stay tuned. You always want to have everything in the same state…business registration, drivers license, vehicle registration, authority registration, insurance policy…ALL in the same state…if not, you will run into problem after problem until you are out of business like 1000’s of others that listened to bad advice. There are scenarios where you need to have operations in multiple states or a state other than the state you reside in but when you are first starting out, if you don’t have everything in the same state, you are waving a ton of huge red flags. No one used to pay attention to all of this, especially through Covid, but now the FMCSA and all the insurance companies are cracking down on it so any advice you’ve heard about registering anything in another state is just really bad, old news.

I have a serious inquiry, so I verify myself every time I picked up a load for Amazon Relay then all of a sudden suddenly they was unable to verify my picture and then it went to. They are not able to verify my verification. I tried contacting the number on the app where someone call you back they said there was nothing that they can do. One person said they will email them back in the back and never got back to me so I’m blocked on Amazon Relay because ofverification nobody’s not giving me no information not the Amazon workers or nobody. Do you have an idea how I can fix this problem.

I'm not sure how you're gathering your logic when you say that truck drivers are responsible for hours of service how can that be, more times over what I see with hours of service is a company that is rigging the system to allow that driver to do what he's doing. And the majority of times that these drivers are receiving these violations they are under loads. Question to you how did they get that load? That in of itself should relieve you of that nonsensical attitude about drivers being at fault solely 4 hours of service. Get your facts together I got 35 years doing this and I've worked every aspect of transportation there is I've seen it all heard it all and done it all. Surprised that Someone Like You could get on your platform and say something that ridiculous

Enterprise said to rent their box trucks, the insurance policy needs to say any vehicle. That way, what ever truck you get is covered.

When they ask for Any auto coverage on your auto liability, they are not considering that your commercial auto policy has an MCS-90 endorsement…they probably don’t even know what that is but when you have an MC, your policy has to have an MCS-90, which modifies a normal commercial auto policy. The only way to get Any auto coverage added to a commercial auto policy with an MCS-90, is to have a fleet of at least 10 trucks and find an insurance company that will offer it. All that aside, Any auto still does not cover every claim scenario…I’ve argued with the rental companies about this for years and the real problem is that the guy at the counter or on the phone, doesn’t really care and is only doing what he’s told and the lawyer that advised on their insurance rules, is doing bare minimum because it’s a cushy corporate gig and he can’t do any better in life. If you want the best advice for your unique scenario, give us a call. I promise you, no one in the US has helped more people successfully start trucking companies with rental trucks.

Enterprise quoted me $2100.00 per month plus .25 cents per mile on top of that. For a 26’ with liftgate. On the insurance, they want any vehicle marked on the COI. Amazon relay no longer takes new authorities. They told me it needs to be 180 days old.

Yep, Amazon does require 180 days of active authority now. I would shop the rate you got from Enterprise against Ryder, Penske, and Budget. You should definitely be able to negotiate a better rate. You will not find a commercial auto policy that provides Any auto coverage in the auto liability until your MC authority has been active for at least two years and have at least 10 trucks (and those policies are typically billed monthly with variable rates based on total mileage). Give us a call once you figure out which rental company you want to go with and we can help you with insurance. Each rental company is different about insurance requirements but we have relationships with all of them and can take care of you.

That is exactly what I’m doing. I have an F250 that is part of my business. It will be my service truck. I’m insuring that at 300,000. My rate is affordable enough I just paid for the whole year. That gives me a years time to finalize more of my business . Build relationships, get equipment.

In Texas we can't obtain authority unless we actually own a box truck. If renting, then the company must have their own that we would fall under.
