It accepts a 43mm UV filter. I put the filter on and mount the lens hood on top. I don't feel the need to use a lens cap now.

You should give the Voigtlander 27mm a try. I like it so much I considered picking up the 18mm. My only hesitation is a don't shoot that wide very often.
@ChrisFreitag12 сағат бұрын
Shooting this wide was a learning curve for me, but that’s one of the reasons I wanted to try it. I’ve gotten much better with the wider field of view, with layering.

I have three of the Voigtlander… I started with the 27mm Ultron and loved it, so bought the 18mm C-S, now I just got the 50mm F1.2 and I love them all….they are just so much fun to shoot. If you can get it used or cheaply, try the 18mm

Good to know! It even has this spot in the center that gets light/dark as you adjust, so it really feels like it’s spot metering. Either way, the meter works, my rolls of film have come back mostly exposed correctly.

I’m thinking of picking up one of the new 40 mp Fujis at some point but I’m afraid I’ll need to upgrade my editing machine to an IPad Pro or maybe a MacBook Air. Cheers Rab
@ChrisFreitag12 күн бұрын
I'm currently using the latest iPad Pro M4. However, I've been using this workflow since I bought my X-T5 in January 2023 and I was using the M1 iMac and M1 iPad Pro. The M1 iMac choked on the files a little bit, but I think that was because Apple hadn't officially supported the file yet. So even though Adobe read the RAW files just fine, the system didn't do a great job with them. That's since been updated and those files are officially supported, so I think *any* M-series chip will serve you just fine.

I have one of the first gen spotmatics.. Love that camera and will probably never part with it.. I got mine at a yard sale for 5 dollars with two of those 55mm lenses like you have .. Cleaned everything up and away it went .. My meter does not work so I use a light meter :).. Also if you plan on shooting dark stuff on film expect lots of grain until you learn how to expose different types of film in dark areas.. I struggled and still struggle to get clean dark images on film. I have learned that often when shooting dark areas I over expose +2 to even +3 stops over just to make sure the film gets the light it needs .. Film is a lot slower at reacting to light then our high end digital sensors so be aware of that when you get back your scans and wonder why they are so grainy and crappy looking lol.. Also if you find you enjoy the process as much as I do.. You might want to check out investing in dev kits and get all the stuff you need to develop and scan the negs yourself :). Saves you TONS of money..

I don't buy into the XT5 being 'so light' compared to the XH2 ... XT5 - 557g and XH2 - 660g, however the XT5 needs to have a grip to be seriously compared to the XH2 ergonomically, Fujifilm know this and make a grip specifically for the XT5 and it weighs 120g , total XT5 weight with the grip 677g

I haven’t tried any of my manual lenses on the X-H2 but I did use the Voigtlander 23mm on the X-T5 and thought the images were good. But I wasn’t looking for any degradation because of the 40mp. I will say this though, my beloved XF35mmF1.4 R lens doesn’t resolve the 40mp sensor according to Fujifilm but the images look great to me, so I don’t know what to make of those claims.

@@ChrisFreitag Well, I just cancelled my X100VI order (3 months on b/o) and preordered the X-T50. I hope it's not another 3 months wait. Yes! I wasn’t going to draw attention to it but you are eagle eyed. Things around my channel and what I want to do necessitated a change. So now I have the X-H2 and X-T5. As I said in that video, I like them both.
@Enrique-the-photographerАй бұрын
@@ChrisFreitag I did subscribe to your channel BTW (do I win anything?🤣). I switched to digital about 4 years ago after shooting film for over 35 years, my choice was the Fuji X-T2 simply for the form factor, no need for menu diving, I can see everything without turning the camera on (just like my film cameras), a couple of years ago I upgraded to the X-T4. Now I’m considering upgrading to the X-T5 (who doesn’t like new toys), but I’m getting negative reviews from some you-tubers claiming that the built quality isn't there, that it’s cheaply made, that the dials “feel funny”, etc., what do you say? probably not too many negatives because you did get it (again). I’m not interested in the X-H2 (or 2S) line, they look and feel like any other mdslr. I only do photography, zero video.
@ChrisFreitagАй бұрын
First, thank you. Second, no I don’t have an issue with the build quality and as you pointed out, I bought it twice. I’ve taken it with me to the Olympic Peninsula and deep into the Rockies without issue. In fact today I was setting up a video with my X-H2 and needed both hands so I set my X-T5 in the dirt without hesitation. The build does feel lighter and more plastic-y than the X-T4, but it’s also much lighter. The only dial I have trouble with is they stacked the shutter dial on top of the still/movie dial. And it’s far too easy to switch to movie mode when adjusting the shutter. You can work with it, but it was a poor choice. Otherwise, once you start using it, any gripes fade and you’re left with excellent images.

Great summary Chris. I'm coming back to photography after 6/7 years out, so am starting again. The X-T5 is what sparked my interest with its design and retro controls (and obviously the sensor), but I just couldn't get on with the feel of it in my hand. I like to dangle a camera off my fingers when I'm walking about (like you demonstrate in your video) and that's not really possible with the X-T5 (I appreciate you can buy an additional grip). Last weekend I trialed a Sony A7iv and loved it. This weekend I have the X-H2 on my desk and love that more. The bodies are pretty much identically sized and weighted, but the Fuji really steals the lead in lighter, more compact, and more reasonably priced 1st party lenses. Add in the way it handles colour and the film simulations and I think I'm there. Yes the AF isn't as sticky as in the Sony but the latest v4 firmware seems to have made a difference, and the main thing is - I have more fun with the Fuji. It's making want to get out there and take photos, and that is ultimately what it's all about!
@ChrisFreitagАй бұрын
