How they going these days? I heard they stocked some Gold Coast streams. Would be great to do a dam stocking trial, say Hinze dam or something, heard they grow faster than bass under culture conditions. They may all head up the creeks in the dams but they may become semi-pelagic like some other natives, won't know unless you try.

We should start growing sterile triploid grass carp. Easy to grow and a huge Asian market. They eat grass like cows and grow very fast. They can also be used for controlling invasive weeds as has been used in many countries including New Zealand. For more natural insect feeding you could install a solar-powered LED light over the water that works at night. Would be good if you make a video about Marron farming too. Thanks
@jadeperchman9 ай бұрын
We can't have grass carp in Australia. Perch also eat aquatic weed. Lights are already a practice for attracting insects to feed brood fish. I don't grow Marron. I am on the east coast of Australia. They are farmed on the west coast, thousands of kilometres away. They are also not suitable for the tropical climate in my part of Australia. Thanks for you comments.

@@jadeperchman I am in Brisbane. I know now grasscarp can not be kept in Australia, Im talking about "Triploid Sterile Grasscarp". They are even used as a weed eliminator in NewZealand and US where they are a pest. Perch can not do what grass carp does. They eat half their weight in grass each day.

I don't know. I hope not because I will be there in July too. Check Google for Laos weather in July. When I checked it said an average of 10 days rain in July. That's not too bat from my point of view.

@TheJadeperchman2 жыл бұрын
We spawned and hatched them in purpose built tanks, then moved them to a plankton pond. If you are not able to use a plankton pond, you will need to hatch artimea os something similar. The eggs should be moved into a suitable tank to hatch.
