Very interesting Pablo. I've always wondered how much Bach ever thought in terms of block chord harmony, given that he was primarily composing in a polyphonic style. If you take the clashes of certain voices in isolation as you've done here, there are so many fascinating harmonies to be discovered in his music. Thank you for the video

2:35:00 - Nice Tony Williams reflections. ("Little Waltz" 😅) This is the first time i heard more details about his premature death. I knew he died from surgery complications, but Gonzalo adds a bit more detail. This was just an incredible interview, Pablo. You ask the right questions and let Gonzalo tell his story. Hes prob. my favorite pianist along with Herbie and Chick. This is the first time ive actually heard him speak at length about his career and music. Thank you.

There is a really fun moment just after one hour and thirteen minutes where you have a spit take at how funny Scott's observation that he doesn't actually know how music that he participated in works. Then, right after, there is a really beautiful moment where you focus sharply and listen hungrily. I think it might be that you realise just what a struggle it is to remember that this is true for everyone and that we have to relearn it every day otherwise our art is killed by conceit. We are conditioned from youth to believe that our teacher understands things fully and our job is to catch up. This is capatalist construction. In reality our job is to have fun and create the conditions where our subconscious can be fed enough information of sufficient quality and accuracy that it can know at times the secret of the beauty it creates even though the maths we consciously understand never catches up with the reality which it reflects palely. Thank you for the wonderful gift of this podcast, you have given me many happy hours to look forward to :)

Greetings from Chicago🌭 NICE MAESTRO; NICE❗️ ( ooh… that Steinway sounds GORGEOUS ❗️❗️) WHEN I FOUND YOU AROUND THE PANDEMIC.. I WAS OVER THE MOON WITH HAPPINESS… THE BRIGHT STARS YOU REVEAL ON YOUR WONDERFUL CHANNEL! YOUR PLAYING IS INTROSPECTIVE, & DARING…. JUST LIKE YOUR GRACIOUS INTERVIEWS…..❗️ YOU ALLOW THE GUESTS “ ALL THE TIME NEEDED “ TO TELL THEIR UNIQUE PERSPECTIVES……. YOUR GENEROUS PATIENCE….. AND PROFOUND QUESTIONS SHOWS THE WORLD YOUR HUMILITY, YET EXPOSES YOUR WEALTH OF KNOWLEDGE IN ; … NOT ONLY THE HOMEWORK YOU DO TO PROPERLY SHOWCASE THE AMAZING FEATURED ARTIST…. BUT….. ALSO REVEALS YOUR INCREASING DEPTH OF PERSONAL GROWTH ……. AND LOVE YOU EXPOSE TO YOUR WAITING AUDIENCE❗️❗️ AS A SELF TAUGHT JAZZ COMPOSER …… I WAS SIDETRACKED FROM MY ARTISTRY EARLY IN LIFE BY A RELIGIOUS RABBIT HOLE THAT WENT NOWHERE!!! ( I learned the hard way that LOVE is all we need ) SOOOO , 50 YEARS LATER…. I FIND YOUR CHANNEL…….. NEW ARTIST TO STUDY……..AND A SINCE OF FAMILY WITH YOUR BROADCAST ❗️ 5 YEARS IN…. I HAVE BEEN WORKING ON MY DEBUT ALBUM… (ALL ORIGINAL BALLADS) AND…. THOUGH I DONT SHARE YOUR VIRTUOSITY AT THE PIANO…..🥴 THE MELODIES ( or stories are valid ) & TEND TO FLOW EFFORTLESSLY OUT OF SOME HIDDEN CHAMBER WITHIN….. ( as if they were just waiting patiently to emerge.) YET…. AS ALWAYS…. MUCH EDITING AND AUDITING IS NEEDED ❗️ I EASILY NEED ANOTHER YEAR TO ARRANGE AND REHEARSE WITH A 25 PIECE ENSEMBLE ( if the funding comes through 👀)❓ IF NOT…… ILL TAKE THE 6 OR 7 SESSION MUSICIANS AND CROSS MY FINGERS THAT JUSTICE WILL BE RENDERED 👀 I DONT GIVE A DAM ABOUT SALES……THIS VINYL IS ALL ABOUT HONORING EACH PIECE OF MUSIC ……. & GIVING BACK TO THE UNIVERSE ❗️❗️ MY NOVEL, SHORT FILM, AND DEVICE IM INVENTING WILL KEEP ME ENTHRALLED WITH THIS GORGEOUS THING CALLED LIFE IN THE MEANTIME. AND…. THEN MR. HELD.. YOU…… AND I….. SIR MUST DO THE MOST DARING THING LIFE OFFERS….. TO FALL IN LOVE ❗️❗️❗️🫨 MUSIC ALLOWS US TO FLY……….. BUT…….. LOVING SOMEONE…….. AND MORE IMPORTANTLY ALLOWING “ SOMEONE “ TO LOVE US………… THIS IS WHEN…….. OUR LIVES BEGIN TO ….”SOAR”❗️ ( soaring in life…. is love’s whole intention!) YES….. ITS DANGEROUS❗️ BUT…..MUSIC IS JUST AS DANGEROUS…… BUT …. IN THE END……. MUSIC GIVES BACK IN PASSION, EXPLANATION, & CONSOLATION…… ALL THE THINGS A LOVER PROVIDES ….. BUT…… THE FIRST 2 RULES OF COMPOSING SHOULD APPLY IN OUR LOVE LIFES AS WELL; NAMELY…….. 1) LISTEN CLOSELY TO EACH NOTE ……. &……EACH REST❗️ 2) DONT BE IN ANY HURRY….. TIME IS …… A ARTIST BEST FRIEND ❗️ THANK YOU FOR YOUR YOUR ENRICHING CONTRIBUTION TO THE INDUSTRY…… YOU ARE A SINGULARITY AND A GIFT FROM HEAVEN ❗️ Happy hunting 😳 HAPPIEST🌐2️⃣0️⃣2️⃣5️⃣🌐 GOD BLESS 🕯️ 🎼RAIN AGAIN 🎼

I found this really lacking in energy, I felt bored after some time. I'm missing the intensity of expression, that should be part of a jazz performance. And why can't the horn players get their lines together, before going on stage? Sounds not very professional. Sorry, guys.

Yes, I've been riveting impressed by Herbie ever since first hearing him on Wayne Shorter's superb Adam's Apple album in 1966. During the early 70s I got into Herbie's Mwandishi period recordings @ The Different Fur Trading Company in San Francisco, and listened to Eddie's INSIDE OUT (? I think; can't access my vinyls at the moment!) THEN, of course, came Herbie's MONUMENTAL composition CHAMELEON, and the face of modern jazz was transformed forever. Always WONDERED whether "Doctor" Eddie Henderson was an actual MD. Thanks for answering this existential worry!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Incidentally -- in connection with the many subsequent versions of CHAMELEON -- have you, Pablo, or indeed any correspondent with your site -- heard the SHEKERE AND CHAMELEON version (provider: CLEANTONES)? Not only does Bennie play a VERY soulful introductory tenor saxophonist solo, but Herbie follows with a long, BURNING e-piano solo: 1 of the best that I've ever heard from HIM. .. And THEN he follows THAT by a SCORCHING, but all-too-brief, ARP synthesiser solo worthy of JAN HAMMER at his best.

I have always been a fan of Eddie's, and (of course) Herbie's too. In addition to loving and respecting their artistry, I am dually interested because I went to medical school for 2 years, and then got a PhD in psychology. I later went on to play with many people and do a good amount of recording. I followed Jerry Bergonzi in Dave Brubeck's Quartet in the early 80's, and later played and toured with the Pat Martino quartet in the early 200's. Also, played and recorded with many others....no need to mention here! So, I have always been so intrigued with Eddie as a physician too. I have never met him, but hope it happens some day......Thank you Pablo.
