This is the translation given in The Raga Guide: "What kind of image has appeared before my eyes? Again and again I try to sleep, but my eyelids won't shut. Wherever I look, a vision of the dark one comes into view." So, I assume, परि रे is best tranlated as "appear / come into view", but I am not an expert...
