What tool did you use to remove/install the cork retainer? Are they available and will the same tool work for the cork retainer on the 334 1/2? Thank you!
@YusufintoАй бұрын
Wonderful work! One question: How did the nib/feed assembly squeeze so easily back in when it took knocking out in the first place? Was there any lubrication involved?
@MSPens25 күн бұрын
Hi, I have not used any lubricant. After the intense cleaning, it was much easier to put it back in. The feed was so stuck because of the old/dried ink.

I went through your shop , it’s really wonderful to see instruments and accessories but what about the helical rod how can one get that or replace the plastic one with brass or iron one . ??
@MSPens2 ай бұрын
Hi, do you mean the rod I used to press in the cork? In the meantime, I’ve made a more elegant tool where you can switch the tip depending on the model. This tool will be available in the shop in the coming days. But a plastic or wooden rod with the right diameter and about a 5mm hole will also work. Best regards!

Hii there , it’s really wonderful to see you restoring these pens , could you please provide where can I get these sacs ? For Parker 51 or vaccumatic . Is there any process by which one can make it at home ?
@MSPens2 ай бұрын
I bought the sacs a few years ago, but unfortunately, I don't remember where. However, I do recall that after some time searching online, I found them. There’s definitely a way to make the sacs yourself, but I haven’t looked into that yet. Maybe in the future.

Dear Sir, Do you really use this type of sandpaper or do you use MICRO-MESH Cushioned? Thank you.

Yes, I actually use regular sandpaper. However, Micro-Mesh pads have been on my list of things to try for quite some time.

A normal small multifunction tool. These are available from Dremel or Proxxon, for example. They sell the polishing attachments.

I don't want to discourage people but please do not take risk working on vintage especially celluloid pens, the guy is so skilled, you don't want to see bubbles popping up after glue use. Besides that, nobody should experience a crack sound while disassembly of such vintage beauty.
@MSPens7 ай бұрын
Yes, you're right, you have to know exactly what you're doing with antique celluloid writing instruments. The sound of such an antique masterpiece breaking will haunt you for a long time. 🥲

Why bother? Expensive pen, I Sent mine for ink-flow issues to Mont Blanc authorized service dealer in 1979. They removed the brand new cap, which was part of my pen, replaced it with a damaged, worked out cap. On top of that they insisted I should pay for service, which was supposed to be done under warranty. Mont Blanc makes expensive garbage. I switched to Lamy Safari 12 to 18 DM at the time, about $9...still working perfectly.

One or two more questions: what polishing paste do you use? and are these official tools or in-house tools?
@MSPens10 ай бұрын
I cannot name the manufacturer of the polishing paste. In any case, it is a very fine one for the very last polish. I made the tools myself, but most of them are modeled on the tools used by Montblanc.

What is a good maintenance routine for a pen like this? I just got a Montblanc 254 and am wondering what’s the best way to clean it and what intervals I should be cleaning it in between uses. If you could give any advice I would greatly appreciate it
@MSPens10 ай бұрын
Hi, so if you always leave the ink out of the fountain pen and rinse it with clear water when you know it will not be used for a long time, further maintenance intervals are not really necessary. Only if the old ink has become hard and encrusted should you disassemble the fountain pen to clean all the individual parts properly. The easiest way to do this is in an ultrasonic bath. The seal should also not break if you do not let the ink harden in the fountain pen. So, simply draw water into the fountain pen from time to time (distilled water would be best here) and rinse thoroughly.

What kind of sandpaper and what kind of wheel on the dremmel? Also did the dremmel wheel have a polish?
@MSPens10 ай бұрын
I use 2000-3000 grit sandpaper and on the Dremel I use a soft polishing attachment with a firm polishing compound.
