How long is a contract usually? also do you travel to different countries and if you do would you work at multiplr hospitals in said country? For example if you are in the US would you travel to different states?

I hate these stupid exaggerated videos , no it’s not like this. I’ve worked nights, and days, it’s all the same. Also, many of our nighy shifters go to breakfast together after work. If you can’t handle it then switch to days.

It’s crazy to me you’re allowed to wear your own scrubs in hospitals in US. In Europe we all have hospital issued scrubs, not flattering of course, but eh. And they all get washed in the hospitals laundromat, so no chances of transferring germs and bacteria’s.

I have a car , but when I have a night shift at the hospital , I usually take the bus that day because I tried driving home once after being awake all night and I was struggling to keep my eyes open , so I stopped doing that , for my safety and others , lucky I have that option and the bus drops me off near my house , I just have to make sure that I don’t fall asleep and miss it 😴😴😴

Im not a medical professional but used to work 30 mins away from home over night and would have to drive home during morning rush hour which is crazy as we all know but being even a little tired is scary and dangerous. Id have the music on blast and windows down. The worst part was in bumper to bumper traffic it made me feel so sleepy. Now I work remotely so im very lucky for that.

Firemedic here. Peds calls are the worst for us.... but I'm not excited about actually delivering in my rig. That's prob the fear. Been through so much already, much i wouldn't want to repeat but haven't dealt with that yet. I had both of my kids high risk and my last one was a NICU baby so that's def not a situation i would want to be in before getting to the ED.😅

I live in Wales. A nurse coming off a night shift crashed off the road into a river and died. It was hours and hours before anyone realised she was missing and longer before they realised where she died. It was in my home village Ynysddu. Theres still flowers all along the road even years later. The council put up a pokey little chicken wire fence to try and stop it happening again

I’m honestly shook that they let you do this. Does OTC drops or a script from your dr not work for you? Confused a bit. Wondering if it’s more or less wasteful.

It’s actually really scary. We often forget that they are just normal humans too. We need to take care of them so they can in return take care of us. Imagining having a sleep deprived health care worker care for me or my family is a bit unsettling

I will turn the music off and tune into comedy or talk radio, roll my windows down so the air rushes in, and put something in my mouth like a now and later or jolly ranchers, something that takes a bit to get gone. Then it's off I go... talking to the radio, sticking on my candy with the windows down.... exhausted outta my mind
