Love, I think you are starting too quickly for me. How about we set the bridge and tune the strings first? I have never touched a violin before. I already had the D string peg break in my fingers and I broke the G string by tuning too tightly, I guess. I tried to rosin up the bow….do I have too much rosin? Too little? How do I tell? All I know is I sound worse that a herd of hoarse, dying frogs. I could play my recorder/trombone/tuba/baritone when I first picked it up better than I can this thing. I am not yet frustrated, just incredibly new and I keep playing the E string along with the A string when I only want an A sound. How much pressure do we use when bowing? My violin seems to make a noise better and clearer when I just rest the bow on the strings and pull rather than pushing down on the string and pulling.

I love this approach. It is super helpful to highlight the rhythmic pattern this way. Too often bowing gets overlooked in pursuit of the notes. I hope there are more vids like this - am about to check. Thanks George! Amazing teachings! I so appreciate you.

I just can't get the hang of following the tune with the demonstration when it's played clearly first, then explained after really quickly, then moved right along. I end up having to constantly skip back in the video to try and figure out what I was supposed to do.

Can you make a sheet music for this? I am having trouble following along.

Great video, just good for a complete newby like me. Please do correct me if I'm wrong, but two things I learned before watching this video which I think are worth mentioning: 1) Remember to use rosin or else the bow won´t make a sound :) If the rosin is shinny, use some sand paper to break it before using, it should release powder as you apply it to the bow. 2) Bow pressure on the strings should be minimal, or else sound will be horrible

I'm at Zerooo...! I feel the bow so heavy for my hand. The biggest problem is that the chinrest hurts my collarbone 😢. Then I have to switch tasks between hands: right hand holds and left hand fiddles😂. Sounds crazy but it's much better 🤣🤣

From what I've seen, using violin note stickers or finger tapes solves that issue. Finger tapes usage seems to be more accurate method.

Why when I play it, when I try playing full bow with the same technique, it isn't making a sound despite having rosin, Is my bow bad or am I doing something wrong..? what could be the possible reasons?

Well, I managed to break a string. Oops. However, I appreciate your thorough explanation. I found myself asking clarifying questions in my head, and lo and behold, you managed to answer them as if we were having a conversation face to face. Wonderful job anticipating a newbies mistakes. I watched the bow string while doing upward and downward strokes and that seemed to improve my ability to make a clean note. Is this improper? Where shall we look when learning?

Hi, I have always wanted to learn violin. Your videos seem fairly easy to follow and I am eager to learn from your videos. However, I am struggling in which violin to buy. Could you recommend one please?
@DrexisEbon26 күн бұрын
If you can, I would recommend that you rent a decent one rather than buying a crappy one. Just go to a shop where they do lessons and inquire. But you will have to practice a lot to make it worth it. Many places offer lessons and rentals as a single price.
