Great job 👍 How do you use such a huge solder gun ? I’ve seen those, but they are like holding a battleship :)

Working on a B202... Have ground off the tabs using a Dremel. Feeling significant resistance when trying to remove the bell housing. Suggestions? The brushes don't seem thick enough to be the cause.

You ever try to zap or rezap your magnets, then retest to see if they are better? How about rezapping them with some timing, " if you know what I mean"? :)

Can the same type of balancing with a wobble plate be used on a inline arm? Thanks for the videos

I am sure that this concept could be adapted to an inline type arm.

Great Vid, doing this now, i has some noise but I also have a very fast table almost 75RPM, you think changing that Hall IC chip also will help with why it’s running way too fast ?

Thanks for this video. Fixed one of my SL-B202s today after picking up glue from Midwest. Another thing I learned is that flipped upside-down, they sit nicely on top of a 5-gallon bucket.

What are you looking for as far as axle to axle hole clearance?
@Rondo123456011 ай бұрын
For this test the axle holes needed to be snug to the drill blanks when determining the magnet’s vertical position. The drill blanks were .065 so the axle holes were slightly smaller than that.

Outstanding video….opens up a lot of possibilities for different bodies other than the aurora tjets…..tyco …lifelike and even afx all have the newer styles to incorporate them into tjet chassis……and those chassis are so much more fun to drive than the magnet cars…thanks 🏎️🏎️🏎️🏎️🏎️🏎️🏎️

Thanks so much for this instructional video! I do have a question about a small issue I am having with this repair. There is some friction in the motor housing. Is it possible that the glue that I applied to the underside of that metal washer raised the height slightly, causing it to rub against the inside of the white plastic motor housing after reassembly? The motor turns so smoothly before I reassemble it. And then there is friction and resistance and it doesn’t spin very smoothly after I snap the housing back together. Any advice or insight you can offer me? Thank you!
@nansenscat9315 Жыл бұрын
Ah, nevermind. I discovered the problem. One of the little brushes popped down when I resoldered the motor onto the board. It was rubbing against that washer. I didn’t realize the end of that brush was actually the solder point of the motor and can move somewhat freely within the plastic cover once you clean the solder off of it. Problem solved and it works great! Thanks again! 😊

Got audio. I am not a fray racer, but I do build my chassis to fray standards, Why would you buy a body without proper screw posts? Are the casters of cars not confident in their work not to edsure thier bodies are able to be screwed to a Tjet chassis?
@Rondo1234560 Жыл бұрын
Some racing groups like to race cars of ‘fray’ width that have bodies that look more realistic. There are very few bodies that are made to this width that include the mounting posts in them. Moreover, our local group has a racing series in which the only bodies allowed are bodies like this (clip-on bodies with posts added).

Excellent work. Made sense. Once you put a body on, the center of gravity of the chassis (although a good reference point) seems like it would be thrown out with the baby in the bath water. I guess you could weigh the body and get an overall height from the track to the roof and get some sort of idea how the body affects the center of gravity. I am not a Fray builder, but I use the methods and techniques to improve my car to beat friends and relatives when we set up the track on the kitchen table for fun.

@Rondo1234560 Жыл бұрын
LOL. It’s a jug of used/junk fray car parts dating back to 2017 or so. Tires, shoes, brushes, guide pins, etc. I was in a hurry to get a hefty counterweight for the microscope and it was the closest thing.

Thanks. I just received an old skyway track and 6 cars from 1967 from a relative. Always looking for different or better way. I do not oil that much it ends up everywhere, and I check the PU shoes for proper level max contact with the rail. I like your commutator brush but I do not like removing material if I don't have to. I used a copper cleaner since these have been sitting in a box for decades. I would have liked to see the car run after. Always like to see peoples cars run. I will look for other videos.

100% correct. I discovered this fix myself (the hard way), you've made it easier for everyone else. Nicely done!
Update on my previous comment. I managed to open up my Technics SL-J11 motor. However, my motor was a much more simple design. Two things I noticed. The shaft bearing had a bit of play, but still manageable. The noise on mine seemed to come from the spindle bearing that was on the plastic motor cover. I couldn't manage to get those brushes out of the way without bending them, but they still work so it's fine. In the end it significantly reduced the grinding noise my motor had and it's very quiet now. Not silent, but night and day compared to what it was like previously. Those metal tabs are an absolute pain in the ass to open/remove and I didn't even bother with glue when mounting the motor back, it seemed to fit in there very tightly.
@Drinkyoghurt2 жыл бұрын
ARE YOU KIDDING ME? Wow, I have a Technics SL-J11 linear table that I wanted to gift to a friend, but the motor was making a similar noise. No matter how much I oiled the spindle the noise didn't seem to go away. It's very similar to the noise in your clip and I'm positive that this is the issue. I'll have a look at it tomorrow, but man, you're a lifesaver!
