Although I only played the 2014 version, I like the voice at the beginning of the video much better. Firstly, the voice is deeper, and secondly, it seems to me that the first voice of “old Garett” more believably corresponds to the thief. the second is Garett, he wants people to like him when the first one doesn’t care about the opinions of others 😅😅😅

This is an amazing work of art. For you to save a sincere, well written character and voice actor from succumbing to the plain embodiment of a shallow monster called Garret of Thief 4. Oh how I miss the self-centered anti-hero. He feels so much more sincere and deep.

Old Garrett voice actor sounds like he is trying to do some ASMR which i hate, the smug seductive stupid voice. And even then i have heard better ASMR than that. Atleast Thief 4 Garrett is likeable sounding to me

nu-garrett looks pretty cool to me, and the voice actor certainly tried to capture the magic of stephen russell's voice acting. but the script is terrible. the character feels hollowed out. shame.

Original Garret sounds like your listening or reading his private diary, something thats a privilege, I listened to every sentence while you wait for the next cozy map to start, The new one is a bit like a dude trying to brag how awesome of a theif he is, Then again i only tried the new theif game maybe for an hour before i decided its something of a cashgrab and nothing for me, The first two is masterpieces in history, the third is pretty good too.

Honestly, I think the "new" Garrett has a good character design and they took character traits from the first games and adapted them to their setting. What they didn't do well is the presentation. They completely fucked up the introduction of Erin, bc she could've been much more likeable if they hadn't shown us her ass being reckless and apparently in puberty in the beginning and then make Garrett chase someone the player doesn't feel sympathy for. Of course they start to question Garrett's new design at that lol

I feel like everyone shits on new thief way too much, but considering how much better the first 2 were it makes sense. Like I think its a bad thief game definitely but as its own thing its still a largely playable and somewhat enjoyable game. Especially for a modern one lol. It should have def been its own ip instead of trying to redo the original.

I'm an oldschool Thief fan, started with The Metal Age and been a fan since. I love Russell's Garrett but I must say the new one is also quite good. It's easy to mock him after choosing the most cringy dialogues. There's a lot of old Garrett style things the new one is saying during chapters. Romano did a great job as Garrett. This game would't be so hated if it wasn't Thief.

that romantising fluff is really unbearable: you steal shit - greed is the motivation, deal with it. still you are among the only game-heroes not stuffing a mass grave. like even if all casualities were bad guys any typical hero should be traumatized for being so fatal in his heroism.

All of Thief reboot physical copies should be dumped in the Maw of Chaos. That game was a rape of an amazing intellectual property without soul or respect.
