Tokoton yare ton yarena!" which is actually an excerpt from a famous song in japan at the time called "ton'yare bushi" which is a pro-imperial anti-shogunate song made during the boshin war period the name of the play, the "mikado" or the emperor is also mentioned in the original ton'yare bushi song in the third part being: "一天万乗の 一天万乗の 帝王(みかど)に手向かい する奴を トコトンヤレ トンヤレナ" "Itten banjō no itten banjō no Mikado ni temukai suru yatsu o Tokoton'yare ton'yarena" "Strike them down, yes, strike them down! May the rebels all be vanquished, who have dared defy the crown (the mikadon of all-realms)! Tokoton yare ton yarena!"

Man 1: He's accepted the challenge from Gourd; Chorus: Done-Done! Man 1: They say he's a quitter, He'd better get fitter or Scallion will surely succumb Chorus: Cumb-Cumb! Man 1: So tame your expressions of glee. Man 2: On this subject we pray you be Mum. Chorus: Mum-Mum Man 2: You'll find they're not many. Who'll fight for a penny? This bike's worth a rather large sum Chorus: Sum-Sum Man 2: A very good bargain indeed (Both sides of the chorus are pushing and pulling Scallion around.) Chorus left: On this subject we pray you be mum. Mum-mum! Chorus right: Oh this bike's worth a rather large sum. Sum-Sum! Chorus: You'll find there are not many, Chorus left: not many, Chorus right: Not many Chorus left: who'll fight for a penny Chorus right: It is a very good bargain indeed Chorus left: It is a very good doctor he'll need Chorus right: As you can see a good bargain indeed, Chorus left: As you can see a good doctor he'll need, Chorus: Yes indeed, yes indeed! Yes indeed, yes indeed! (The chorus drops Scallion violently.)

Mikado is a Comic Opera by Gilbert and Sullivan. It used to be a very popular Opera of the D'oyly Carte Opera Company where Gilbert and Sullivan work and frequently premiere their Opera work The D'oyly Carte Opera Company even has their own Theatre- The Savoy Theatre, Where Mikado first permeired. So many Gilbert and Sullivan work was permeired here that they called their work as "Savoy Opera"

The satirical comedians of their day - absolutely marvellous. Gilbert writing clever but ultimately silly lyrics but Sullivan composing for the silliness to the highest standards. Iolanthe is my absolute favourite but Mikado and Pirates are also great. And HMS Pinafore has some brilliant moments including "When I was a lad" which upset WH Smith and "Me gallant crew" which created its own catch phrase "What never... well hardly ever" which over usage so worried the then Editor of the (London) Times he forbade it. At a conference with his journalists he said you can't use that phrase and someone ask "What ever" and unthinkingly the Editor replied "Well, hardly ever".

A more human Mikado never Did in Japan exist, To nobody second, I'm certainly reckoned, A true philanthropist. It is my very Immune endeavor To make, to some extent. Each evil liver A running river Of harmless merriment Chorus. My object all sublime I shall achieve in time- To let the punishment fit the crime- The punishment fit the crime.. And make each prisoner pent Unwillingly represent A source of innocent merriment, Of innocent merriment! All prusy dull society sinners, Who chatter and bleat, and bore, Are sent to hear sermons From mystical Germans Who preach from ten to four. The amateur tenor, whose vocal villanies All desire to shirk, Shall, during off-hours, Exhibit his powers To Madame Tussaud's wax work.-Chorus. The lady who dies a chemical yellow, Or stains her gray hair puce, Or pinches her finger, Is blacked like a nigger With permanent walnut juice. The idiot who, in railway carriages, Scribbles on window panes, We only suffer To ride on a buffer In Parliamentary trains. The advertising quack who wearies With tales of countless cures, His teeth, I've enacted, Shall be extracted By terrified amateurs. The music hall singer attends a series Of masses and fugues, and "ops" By Bach, interwoven With Spohr and Beethoven, At classical Monday Pops. The billiard sharp whom any one catches, His doom's extremely hard, He's made to dwell In a dungeon cell, On a spot that's always barred. And there he plays extravagant matches In fitless finger-stalls, On a cloth untrue, With a twisted cue, And elliptical billiard balls.-Chorus
