For me, personally, this was the best video I have ever watched to help me wrap my head around light painting and what can be achieved! I am a horrible artist, but I absolutely love the concept of light painting. To have a whole new avenue to create these types of photos, is a gift from the heavens!

I think, if you use high Aperture numbers on wideangle lens (24 or 28mm) you have to focus just once and keep it through all the scene. Becouse of deep depth of field allow this. Thank you for the tutorial anyway, that helps people (counting me) find something new and useful!

Can i do this with android?
@LightPaintingPhotography14 күн бұрын
Yes! You can capture a Light Painting with ANY camera capable of a Long Exposure. Many of the android phones have long exposure built into the camera and there are also Long Exposure Apps for Android Devices as well. The settings may be a bit different for different apps and phones.

What about for Android users. Any app recommendations
@Nareimooncatt15 күн бұрын
The Android phones I've used for the past several years have a manual mode in their stock app, so I haven't needed a third party app like in the video. Depending on the phone, you can usually get 20-30 seconds of exposure time (no bulb mode that I've found). If your phone doesn't have a manual mode, "Camera FV-5" is a pretty powerful app that has manual controls. There's a free version with limited resolution support, or paid with full resolution and possible RAW capture support if your phone is capable. I've found some phones to be firmware limited on exactly what it can do. I'm not aware of an app that does the live composites like in this video, but there may be something out there.

I know this video is older, but it’s still AMAZING!! I LOVE this concept of setting up a booth and doing your thing!!! The pics are SICK!!! How did you build your booth and not get any light leaking in??

Thank you! It is always great to Live Light Painting especially with these great models! We used some blackout material and layered it up. Important to make sure you have some AC and airflow though as it can get hot quick!
@Shades021919 күн бұрын
@@LightPaintingPhotography Thank you so much for the response!!! Did you just use pvc pipe for a frame? And thank you for the AC tip! I’m sure it would get real hot real quick!

@@Shades0219 for this set up we used your standard "Pipe and Drape" Stands and just layered it to block out the light.

Is there a brightness of torch that works best with your tools?

I love the effect of light painting on water. I haven't done any light painting in over a year. I have some ideas I want to try at a pre-civil war cemetery that a lot of my family is buried at. There's a grave surrounded by an old rusted ornate fence under some 100+ year old cedars that would be cool to do something with. Just gotta find someone to go with me.

Also, I notice that you're 'stopping/starting' the light a lot when writing instead of a continuous movement. Is that to control the amount of light in the shot?

This is just to break up the letters. If I was writing in cursive It would be on the whole time!

Is it possible to achieve this type of light painting using a pixel 7 pro? I'm a total beginner and plan on purchasing some paint brushes soon.
@LightPaintingPhotographyАй бұрын
YES. You just need to set your camera up for a long exposure, I think the Pixel 7 has it in the settings =, if not just get an app like Long Exposure Cam. You can capture Light Painting on ANY camera that has the ability to do a long exposure.
