wheel straps to e track FTW, but i think its really bad on the bearings if our not pulling straight down like you are, like when ppl pull the top of the wheel to the outside of the trailer then strap it down super tight.

if you have all the extra shit you don't need put away really compact and nice its a flex when you need it but if ur lugging around a bunch of stuff willy nilly it will appear sloppy even if its actually the opposite
@thejourneyretold24 күн бұрын
You should ALWAYS bring spare parts racing; if you don’t use it, someone else might… Nothing Willy Nilly - BUT I get what you’re saying, I do leave a lot of crap behind and only bring the stuff I’m willing to fix/replace out there. At some point you will have to admit defeat so I leave that stuff behind

I always try to bring enough stuff to fix whatever I can foresee breaking - and whatever I’m willing to fix - sometimes you have to admit defeat and plan to fix it at home, but I also want to be sure that if someone else needs something that I have it…you’d be amazed at what people lose/break and what we’ve been able to cobble together out there lol

@thejourneyretold24 күн бұрын
Not sure I’m following what you’re inferring? I don’t think I said anything about not liking competition? That’s one of the great things about a UTV, very affordable so there’s lots of competition?
@canadiansheepdog190224 күн бұрын
@@thejourneyretold no,no sorry that’s not what I meant. The utv community is so good that we will help another driver with parts or even help wrenching on other competitors rides just so we can actually race and not just pretty much time trial against ourselves if that makes sense. Its been ~100mi since I did the rebuild. Added shims in the process and could barely turn by hand much like yours. When I got it back in the car the Play at input shaft was 1/2 or less than what it was prior, but now after 100mi the amount of play feels EXACTLY like it did before the rebuild. I had one of these racks in a prior car and have felt a few others. They ALL seem to have that play at the input. I don't think you can shim it out unfortunately.
@thejourneyretold26 күн бұрын
That’s weird, I wonder if it’s play in the steering shafts? That’s where most of mine comes from is the couple different shafts. Maybe try cleaning it all out, then WITHOUT grease shim it and assemble it so it’s how you want it, then pull it apart and grease it up? PITA to get in/out of the car but just an idea.
@brycesanders540225 күн бұрын
@@thejourneyretold I have very little if any play in the factory steering shaft. If I sit in the car with the rack centering bolt in place I can measure 5* of deflection/play in the steering wheel using my Iphone angle app. If I hop out of the car put my right hand on the steering wheel and left hand fingers down at the input shaft/steering shaft they move in unison. You can feel the input shaft rock back/forth. I don't get how after shimming and it being so tight, that it gets this sloppy when back in the car.
@thejourneyretold25 күн бұрын
@brycesanders5402 I bet the grease stiffens it up a lot. I’d try cleaning it all out, assemble it with no grease to get the shims dialed in, and then disassemble and grease it up and do final assembly. It will never be perfect, there will always be SOME play. I have like 1/2” or so of slop (top line of the steering wheel will move 1/2” freely - 1/4” each direction)

Unfortunately no luck on the taps. Apparently the long tube headers are pretty close to the starter and he thinks it cooks them. Basically he has to do a starter like once a year it sounds like.

If the owner of that rig does any tonnage work, a frame less trailer is lighter weight so he can have a heavier payload! The extra tonnage hauled generates far more revenue every month!
@thejourneyretoldАй бұрын
Now THAT makes TOTAL sense!!! I’ve always wondered why. To me it looks so sketchy, BUT I also know if you use it as intended, it’s all good. I have a feeling he does tonnage work because I’ve seen that truck in this material yard a LOT - hauling a metric f**** load of material each time too. lol never more than 80,000 lbs of course tho 😜

Bigger thing that bothers me is that what got me to buy it was the “lifetime warrantee” he talked about in a video of it…but it doesn’t actually have a warrantee. Like I said, I still love it and would do it again, but it is indeed a LOT of maintenance…as is the rest of the X3 lol

The last time I sent a rack to ST for rebuild it came back with just as much slop as I sent it in with. Highly disappointed in STs rebuild. I will be doing my own rebuild next time.
@thejourneyretoldАй бұрын
I LOVE ST, but I feel like there is definitely room for improvement in some areas. The rebuild is really easy, just do it like every 1,000 miles or every year and it’ll be solid. The biggest thing is if you wait for it to get loose you’ve already lost. Once the grease inside gets gritty with dirt it’s like a valve lapping conpound and will really eat away at stuff so make sure she’s always fresh! Feel free to ask any questions when y rebuild it and I’ll be happy to help or talk ya through anything.
