Simple and sturdy wire those half laps. What side are those clamps?

Thank you for showing how to do this. The manual is not clear and it says to adjust so that the trays are 1mm above the deck. I'm doing it level like you did. Makes more sense!

I'm having a hard time following the "inside outside" planing technique. I'm not quite grasping it, but definitely want to understand it. Can you break it down?
@jwar216324 күн бұрын
Jeff, jointing of a board to another board or multiple is very easy, but can get complicated due to errors with equipment and other distractions that happen in a shop. Hence the inside / outside reference. What the poster of the video is stating is that while he is operating the planer to joint the board edges. He has labeled each board on their surface faces (example inside / outside / or A/B on the surface faces. )as he is running (pushing the boards through the jointer on their edges the face on board one he has the A side facing away from the jointer Fence and the B side touching the Fence , The next board has the B side facing away from the fence and the A side Touching the fence. So board # 1 will have the A side facing away from the fence for planning of both edges. Board two will have Side B facing away from the Fence for planning of both edges. and so forth and so on. Board 3 would have A side facing away from the jointer fence whilst the two edges get planed on the jointer. Board 4 would have the B side facing away from the jointer fence whilst have the two edges planed for joining. He mentioned he is doing 5 degrees at the jointer as an example to correct for errors of the tablesaw. He showed the slight gaps from sawing { Also Note that only one edge of Board one and the very last board has to be planed and that edge should be planed opposite of the next or previous board.}. If the fence of the jointer is is out of square and you planed all boards with the A side facing away from the fence there would be a gap and the edges would not join flat or align as there maybe a slight angle. By flipping the faces inside/outside or A/B it will compensate for any deviances or slight errors as the edges will mirror one another , and having the boards number 1 through 13 as in this video keeps the alignment in order as there are 13 boards to make the chevron patteren at final joining. I used A side / B side as to not confuse inside and outside but it is the same. The inside could be the A side and the outside could be the B side. That is solely on the person working the board and what works best for that indivudual. I use A Side and B Side because sometimes my son in law will work with me and he is a novice when it come to woodworking as is my son and it is easier for them both to know that one side of the board is A and the other side is B. Plus it helps me when I ask them what side did you have against the fence when you planed the board on the jointer. I hope that this clears up why there is an inside or outside surface face or in my case A side / B side. I also use an arrow in one direction only on each board when joining two or more boards that I use for alignment.

I am a novice setting up the table and router. I am having a problem with setup that I cannot figure out. The router is brand new and came with it. The problem I am having has to do with the electrical box on the table. I am sure I am missing something simple. The machine is setup with router installed the router is plugged into the back of the box on the table. Key is inserted into the front switch and the table is plugged in to an outlet. When the power is turned on and I move the switch to on. A white light comes on the router but the router does not run. If I Reach through the table and hit the on switch on the router it does come on and work. But it won’t run just by turning the table on and off switch. If I turn that switch off on the table the router and the light do not function. I have tried switching the inlet the router plugs into on the back of the table box the and I have tried installing a foot operation switch . I have plugged the router directly into the wall and use the switch on the router and it works fine. I know about the reset switch on the table and that did not work either. Is there an on off switch on the router that I am not finding or something not adjusted properly which keeps it from working. I have tried everything I can think of and the manual has not helped. I know some is going to say there is a switch that I am missing but I don’t know. Any help is appreciated.

Great video! I'll be building my first workbench soon. One question I plan on having my shopvac and other items on wheels to go under the workbench. Do you need that front 2x4 on the bottom for support? Or would be be sturdy enough without it? Thanks!

one of the lasers on mine went out. How do I replace it. I loosend the set screw but it doesn't move . I can't turn it. I'm guessing it just pushes in and is held by the allen screw. Is it safe to gently use a pliers on it?

Question. When you install the blade, you say to install it with teeth facing you and you install it the way I installed it after reading the instructions. However, later in the video, the blade is now installed the other way (blue side to your right instead of left and teeth facing away). Im pretty sure the way you installed it earlier in the video is the correct way but can you confirm?

make a wooden push block. Also there a bit too much talking (people will skip thru your video which doesn't help you), another common mistake is asking for subscribers immediately (wait until the end of the video and even then make it sound like an option).

WOW, I didn't get a switch for my laser and I got it when it first came out. This would have been nice so I don't have to use a tool to unscrew it every time.

Do you adjust for the z axis? In case you move the table up or down? I imagine the cross hair form in the x and y plane. To make that cross hair apply in all of z planes, the lines have to be parallel? That way no matter if the table moves, or thick/thin pieces get used, drill bit will meet the cross hair? Or is that making it too complicated?

Hey, great video. Thanks. I was wondering how you calculate the trim for different length sides? All the same witch of trim. Do you still just measure the inside and for each side?
@snaplash2 ай бұрын
Idea: Adjust the tables perfectly, then prepare a couple blocks to fit between the bottom of the tables and the "bench" Make them about 1/8" short of full height, and lay a bead of epoxy putty along the top edges. Lift the end of the planer, set the blocks underneath, and let it down slowly to squash the epoxy to the perfect height. You can use plastic from shopping bags between the epoxy and table if you don't want it to stick. With the extra support, the tables should withstand bumps without shifting. Make the blocks end grain vertical or use a material that doesn't change size with moisture. Also, to hold the straight edge, lower the planer head onto it, making sure it doesn't hit a blade.

Reorganise that wire to the gantry, it will get burnt if it gets in the way. A few zipties and it's safer.
@AWBuilder2 ай бұрын
Good explaining! btw. when you were cutting the 4x4 with the table saw, that is one of the ways to get kick-back since the wood between the blade and fence could go slightly askew and get pulled up by the teeth of the blade since it is tightly gripped by the tool. Using a cross-cut sled alleviates that problem.

Just ordered one of these on amazon and figured i'd look for a video. Yours was the only one I found that actually was 1. about the correct model (regardless of what video titles said) and 2. was comprehensive enough to actually understand the situation! Sadly I think this is still a "bare minimum" router table, and all the plastic is concerning, but my needs are pretty simple, and I think it'll work well enough for what I'm needing. Thanks for taking the time to make the full video!

@PoppysWoodworking-vb7re6 ай бұрын
Completely understand that, I think every other tool I have in the garage is on wheels feel like I spend half the time working just rolling things from one side to the other. Thanks for dropping a comment, and the bench top after 2 years is still intact. Has a few dents, dings and other things on it, but still a solid top solution for the price if you have no way of clamping a large top and leveling it yourself. My other choice was a butcher block top, but price was outrageous at the time, may have come down a little.
