How do you burn fat on this run walk run method?
@HilaryTopper

I find that it's really about diet and what you eat rather than exercise. Exercise helps you maintain your weight but even when I trained for the NYC Marathon, I found I ended up gaining weight. Intervals are good to help with weight loss. Many people run the same every day or every other day and don't change it up. When you do this method, you need to RUN during the run intervals and walk easy during those breaks. I hope that helps.

This is great. It's important that people realise that performance and aesthetics don't come hand in hand. If you want to win races or atleast performan well, then you should look at food as fuel. Don't be picky and don't stress if you put on a little bit of weight. It's what's necessary. Focus on weight loss in the off season, like mentioned.

From Jacqui Seltzer: What a remarkable wrap up of various half marathons. I have not run any races in the midwest and am looking forward to the Grandma's Half at the end of June. The word is that the weather is cool, the course is flat and the know how behind the race logistics is superb. I am happy to share my experiences when I return. The race takes place on Saturday, June 18.

I've tried a marathon since 2012 with countless attempts - in vain. Alway after a few months of training with increasing distances (continous running) there were issues, either thigh muscle or hip joint. As I am a good hiker at the moment, without any health issues when hiking, I yesterday tried to "walk" a marathon in under 6 hours, just for fun, for my ego. I noticed early I would miss my goal (start pace 9 km/min). Therefore I filled in short sequences of running to speed up. This mix of quick walking and slow, soft running was somehow ideal. Nothing hurt. After km 30 I put more weight on running as my "hip walking muscles" were exhausted. My running muscles weren't. So km 35-42 were the fastest of all. This makes me think yesterday that walking with short sprints may actually be the thing humans are designed for! And now I find here confirmation for this theory. I finished the 42.2km in 5:39 hrs, average 8min/km, including 600 altitude meters. Finally, after 10 years, I really did it! Without ANY running exercises this time... My run:walk ratio was like 1:5 average. So 7km running, 35km walking. During the night I was almost dead, really, like having very high temperature. But today, besides muscle soreness nothing hurts. I am so happy. Today I also read on the Internet that I wasn't the first to have this idea in a way... 🙂I thought all the time it would be forbidden to walk during a marathon. I am now thinking to repeat this idea with increasingly more focus on the running share. E.g. 1:2 or 1:1 and so on. But I don't know which distance I should do how often per week. Just one 30km run:walk every weekend? Or 2 times 15km a week? So unsure about that.

It is heart recking to have this occur I know first hand. The pain involved to brain washing and keeping a child from her mother. The child does suffer emotionally from this type of brainwashing. No child should be kept from any child who lives and cared for the child. Its selfish and damaging to to child. The child will suffer from this. It should have a consequence to whom ever is Aluenating.... God Bless these children and Parents. May God help them reunite some day... Iowa Mom

For me it is not my ex-husband, it is my parents, my brother and sister that are alienating my daughter against me (I'm a single parent, two girls). It has been horrendous. I'll give you one example just today. Today my dad came over and told me my daughter is 'depressed and suicidal', and to not call her because i would make it worse, and to not contact her for at least one month. However, he doesn't talk about what him, or my mother, are doing to help my daughter with her mental health. That is one example. Another is my sister, claiming 'i don't love my daughter' because i was concerned with her grades. As a result, my daughter has abused me, ('rack off', 'go die', 'you disgust me') when i try to communicate with her. It is most disturbing, and the only person who will suffer long term is HER. Not me, not my parents, HER. So disturbing, so distressing. I am calling around to find lawyers who can help me.

I figured this out all by myself recently. I don't know about 30 second walk breaks, I hike TRAILS with hills and I simply use a heart rate monitor. I run till it's uncomfortable and then I walk till my heart rate falls or until I feel like running again. (I'm just starting at age 66) not racing. I'm just trying to find personal best times every couple of weeks. I'm doing 8 miles with 1500 feet of elevation gain on my regular training trail. I literally cannot run 8 miles continuously yet. I'm just trying to get in better shape for long distance BACKPACKING. In two years I backpacked 2000 miles but I still cannot run more than 30% of my training (run/walk/run) hikes but I'm only just starting to even try running. I'm positive I'll get to a point of being able to run 10 miles by the end of summer (it's mid June now) it's only my knees that keep me from running more. But I agree that run/walk/run might be better than all running because you can run faster and change up your speeds as you train. It's good for HIIT training. This REALLY WORKS now that I'm doing it on all my training hikes.

if you did it in a more systemized way, you would be more efficient. Try 5 min/30 seconds or try different intervals to see when you need a break.

I am a parent currently litigating and advocating to save his child's life from a cult. I sincerely appreciate videos like this but caution people approaching litigation with the myopic mindset to prove the other parent is a liar and an alienator. Most courts are unable to comprehend the complexities of a high-conflict custody fight where alienation is one of many weapons used against one parent by the other. I also caution people to reexamine what they believe parental alienation is. PA is NOT simply one parent saying negative things about the other parent. PA is one parent creating UNWARRANTED fear, hostility, anger and violence in the mind of the child against the other parent. This leads to the "us vs. them" mentality of the child, the demonization of the other parent, and the loss of the child's true identity as an individual. The child becomes a delusional, unwitting pawn in the alienator's campaign against the other parent. Study case law. Study the statutes of the state where you are. I promise... I PROMISE you will fail to protect your child if you go to court thinking you will effectively advocate their best interests by arguing parental alienation. Don't fall into the delusional trap of thinking you have the smoking gun or the exculpatory evidence to prove the other parent is an alienator and a liar. Courts don't care. Protect your child by using the law and making a coherent, logical, unemotional argument to show you are the sane, rational parent who can ignore the he said/ she said and focus on the child's immediate needs and their future prosperity. You will face adversity. You will fail. The courts will let you down. However, if you use the law as it is written and persistently act as the proper person for your child, you will succeed in the long run. Don't let a court tell you your child is "too alienated" to do anything. That is a farce and any judge who says it should be taken off the bench. Do not play the victim and say "it costs too much" or "it's too stressful to fight this in court". These are your children. Fight until your last breath. Fight like their lives mean something to you. They are worth every moment of stress and struggle. You can do it. They deserve it. Keep fighting.

my story is a huge s*** show I never lost custody of my daughter when the love of my life the father of my kids committed suicide the parental grandmother and got an expert a order and got my son on false allegations then the original judge that signed off on it recused himself so you would think it would be over right no! So then I got a rehab I come back my dumbass marries this idiot, I think it was part of the setup literally and we just keep going back and forth to court right? Then my own lawyer screws me over and does not tell me when a court date comes and my ex-husband gets the mail and does not tell me like I said I think it's part of the setup and my mother was there she was helping me try to get him and being the intervening petitioner she paid $13,000 for this man and he did not even stand up once for her and then my lawyer just talked horribly about me it was crazy and I still have not connected with him to see what the hell happened so I looked like a neglectful mother I will never forget that day in June of 2013 and I have never stopped fighting for him ever and I never will! I am sick and tired of this I mean I'm about to literally just go to the courthouse myself and fill out a petition to get custody and start over because I literally have reached out I've tried everything and every time I get close they move or do something and take him out of school it is bizarre! There is no reason that my son should not be around both families, this is creating trauma that he should never ever have and the freaking counselor that he has is a joke and writes literal paragraphs or pages and she's probably paid to say whatever I literally could sneeze and she would say that Gabe is regressing because he is near me and I'm not exaggerating at all there is corruption on every level the guardian ad litem didn't even know where he went to school when he started didn't even know anything didn't even try anything so I don't know how they can be the best interesting tell me they went right over the fact that I have custody of my daughter they didn't remove her but they took my son
