Great self reflection. From a Navy standpoint we had our flat spot as well, fortunately it was against ND and Rice. We can talk about the season and weeks prior, but let's remember this is the biggest rivalry game in the nation and all bets are off (for Example - OSU lost to an unranked Michigan). I prefer the old school of this game being the week after Thanksgiving and I dislike both teams being in a division. Good luck in your bowl game, Beat Army!

I respect coach Monken but maybe he should've skipped the smart@$$ comment when he was on McAfee's show. It seemed out of character, and it definitely pi$$ed off several Navy grads (including this one). To imply that either team wasn't ready for or didn't care about this game is compete BS! This is the only game that truly matters to both schools. Both teams played their hearts out. Looking forward to next year. Go Navy! Beat Army@

The reason Army has 11 wins is because they had a very easy schedule, period.

This is a stupid take. They beat Tulane who beat Navy 35-0. The only good team in the AAC Army didn’t play that Navy did was Memphis.

Is not Maryland Navy's home turf? What happened to Philadelphia? Not too keen on the uniforms prefer tradition. Nice to see all of our clean-cut 'White boys' getting it done for a change! My Dad was Army and went to Alabama for his ROTC and intramural football stint. His brother my uncle went to Notre Dame and was Navy so you can imagine the rivalry between the two.

When you have an extra week of rest and ability to plan for a big game like Army Navy, it shows. The AAC Championship game the week before the Army Navy game has led to Academy losses in 2016 and 2024.

This happens ALL the time in football. Are you saying that Army isn't hard enough to handle this? Another weak excuse.
@rak809510 күн бұрын
Since at least 2017 Army's schedule has allowed a minimum of at least 2 weeks or more to get ready for the Army Navy game. This year they only had 1 week to prepare but they beat almost everyone else after only 1 week's prep. To even mention "they only had one week to prepare" is a non-starter for a team that is 11-1. Army just got out played and out muscled all day long. Very embarrassing to watch this one!

I tell you what happened. The Army QB has some kind of gambling debt or owes money. That was a pathetic showing. They looked better in losing to the irish people. Sorry this game wasn't on the level.

Horvath spent weeks out on injury. Had he remained healthy all year Navy would have been 11-1 or even 12-0 coming into A-N. Bottom line is Navy was the better team this game. It wasn;t because Army had 1 week to prepare. That;s an excuse. And there are no excuses at Navy or Army. I love the fact that both teams were so great this year. Regroup and re-arm for next year. That is what we will do at Navy. I hope we see the same level of play from both Academies next year. #GoNavyBeatArmy

You give a lengthy analysis. I disagree when you mentioned that Army wasn’t focused on this game. They’ve had this game circled on their calendar all year long. Yes, Navy dominated Army. Never heard a congratulations to the Midshipmen. This win was sweet. Go Navy beat Army

This loss was pretty simple--a masterclass in outcoaching occurred. The Navy coaching staff should be proud of the job they did. The Army coaching staff should frankly be embarrassed. On offense, their game plan never adjusted when it was clear that Navy was anticipating almost every play and was coming downhill at virtually every snap of the ball. On defense, they gave up one chunk play after another and the coaching never adjusted at any point to take away the Navy QB running. On special teams, the coaching made the unforgivable mistake of not anticipating that fake punt which effectively ended the game. In all three phases, Army coaching failed and seemed completely unprepared to change/switch plans when the game plan going into the game wasn't working. I was stunned for 3 hours at how inept Army was in dealing with what they were facing during the game. Adapt, improvise and overcome clearly doesn't apply to this Army coaching staff. Rough day for Army.

Navy stacked the box against the run daring Army to throw the ball and Army wouldn't (couldn't?) pass. Our TD jump pass worked great - a screen game would have helped. Should have done more of that. They tried a few quick passes to the edge for 5 yards - I supposed that was Army's WR screen game - but need to work on blocking those. Those 5 yards however were still better than TFLs or no gain. We missed on some of the deep throws but did get PI a couple times on that opening 3rd quarter drive. If Daily makes that missed wide open TD pass, Navy and Army gets a TD instead of settling for a field goal, Navy probably would not have tried that fake punt that ended the game in that situation. That was the pivotal play in that game and a complete special teams failure. After that the 2 INTs were in desperation / garbage time when it didn't really matter. A bad day indeed!

Something wasn't right with this game. Bryson Daily all of a sudden became inept. Monken looked like a deer in the headlights. I'd love to know what's going on in Dailys personal life. Gambling debts ????? Just because one goes to a service academy doesn't mean that they don't have skeletons.

Been a huge fan since I was a little kid. My dad played there and have been following them for years! This was tough to watch they seemed ‘off’ for some reason. I read another contributor say it did not help that the coaches were interviewing for other jobs. I have no idea! Go Army!!

I’m part of the brotherhood (played in the mid 90’s) and that was an embarrassing game to watch. That and the ND game were both bad. Sad to see such a disappointing end to a historic season. The bowl game debacle is a mess too (certainly not Army’s fault however). I’d rather beat Navy than win an AAC championship. Maybe that’s just me. Hang in there fellas.

In looking at the game and then looking at the depth charts of each team afterwards, it appears Navy goes for lighter faster players and Army goes for bigger stronger players. That's been the case for several years now. This year the 2 QBa were exhibit number one of this. The difference is the new Navy offensive coordinator has a scheme and puts together game plans that take great advantage of what his players can do well. The good news is that OC may get hired away from Navy by a power 4 team. I could see that new coach at North Carolina (what's his name?) coming after him.🤩

I agree with you. I'm a Notre Dame fan. And Notre Dame just matched up really well against Army. Even better than they did Navy. Navy could throw it a little bit better. So Notre Dame completely sell out to the run. Against army they completely sold out to the run. And with our athletes. Size and speed matters. But I think the Army is better than Navy. I hope you guys win your next two games. And then when your ball game. Go army. Go Irish🍀

They are the "Cadets" of Army! The "Black Knights of the Hudson" is NOT what they are. That "nick name" was given simply because of the black uniforms! Marketing always rules the day however. And where are the gold pants with a black stripes down each side? And whilst I'm at it, those #'s are stupid! And how about nothing written on the back! Army? No shit sherlock! Love the black shoes though.

ND, like all the top teams now, have the best players money can buy. NIL, Transfer Portal, and other changes have changed college football forever. It makes me sad to see, but it is what it is. I played for Army in the mid 90’s and was on the team that lost to them by 1 in 1995. I wonder if that will ever be possible again.
@robertopacheco2997Ай бұрын
College football died when ESPN became the NCAA overlords and it became only about $! Breaking up geographically-sensible conferences and the traditional rivalries, inventing mega-conferences, ending independence, etc. Transfer portal and NIL are the sad but logical outcomes. These POs will make a lot of money and garner national attention but will never have the wholesome charm of the traditional bowl system. And at the end of the day you'll still have a "mythical" national champ!
@robertopacheco2997Ай бұрын
And thank you for your service!
@josealbino8532Ай бұрын
I mean the Army has a bigger budget than Notre Dame. You could just use your advertisement budget for NIL or big one less missile to get a patriotic 4-star QB instead. A juggernaut Army team would likely help with recruiting.

That was ND’s 3rd string Defense at the end. It was Freshmen & Walk-ons. The 2nd string was in the end of the 3rdQ & first half of the 4thQ. Army left its starting Offense in & called a timeout in the final 30 seconds against ND Walkons. Silly & stupid. Army has their conference title game to play for & they are trying to score a meaningless TD vs Walkons, risking injuries? Dumb.

Army's offense had wide open lanes but ND's defense was so fast, they closed them before a major breakthrough. It was a very fast defense. Army's defense was outmatched and unable to compete in any way. It does show how a team like ND is another tier.
