i was lucky enough to find a "lyre" feather of this bird in a pine tree plantation 6 years ago, still holding on to it, while adding a few more to my collection

Heard this fella everyday growing up as a kid, never could find it, I heard it recently and I got never nostalgic as I missed hearing its call, I’m so glad if found out what the bird was

Thank you for avesome recordings. This is the second representative of petaurids I've heard, and again it's "song" is strikingly similar to some call types of fruit bats of the genus Rousettus. The two groups are so far from each other, that you may think the distant common ancestors of marsupials and placentals sounded like this.

The calls of African Scops Owl relate to those of Eurasian one in the same way, as the calls of southern and northern races of the Oriental Scops Owl. Southern birds have vibrating gurgling, while northern forms - clear musical whistle, although the song pattern in both pairs is identical.
