When they're dead, is the only correct answer. Even bass strings, eventually start sounding noticeably dull and lifeless. Fast Fret makes bass strings last 6 months to a year, easy. 6 string electric for me is 90-180 days, depending on the weather. Rarely do I have to change out a set in less than 90 days. If you get in the habit of thouroughly wiping down your guitars everytime you play them. And using Fast Fret sparingly, it will surprise most players how long strings can last before dieing out. Peace.

Great review. I own a PRS SE DGT 2024 model, which I think sounds and feels great. But it does not have satin finish on the neck, which is a bit frustrating with sweaty hands. Tried the Revstar rss20 HH once and immediately liked it. What is your opinion about the p90 or HH version of the Revstar? Have you tried the PRS and compared the two? Great video 😀

@@bharaldwinge thanks for watching! Im haven’t tried the PRS so I can’t speak to the comparison there, but I will say that I had the chance to play the HH and p90 at NAMM this year and both were great! If you only play a couple times a week for 1 to 3 hours 3 to 4 months is the ticket. If you’re tracking weekly/bi weekly should be the deal. If you’re touring, after your 3rd gig. Wash your hands and dry them thoroughly before every sesh for the life of your strings. That’s my opinion I think it’s a good one. You can also use string cleaner and a hardy wipe down after a long jam or two.

Most of these answers are crazy to me. Bright, icepicky tones does not equal "good tone" for everyone on earth. If you love that brilliant tone of Slinkys fresh out of the pack like Slash instead of getting on the new strings every gig, every week, every day, crack habit just raise your pickup slightly or add an always on pedal to your board that boosts up that pick attack and chime. For me I love a rounder, warmer, smoother sound... and there is no way I'm spending the time and money to replace the strings on my guitars every week.
