A piece of cardboard in front of the manifold helps direct the oil back into the engine and not onto the driveway!

It's only running on the 3rd injector because it kept running one each pull but the 3rd. He restarts the car then pulls the 4th meaning as its still running the first 2 and the 4th are shot. Replace them all basically. Be back doing the 3rd pretty soon. They come out in two's too. 🤷🏼

If you unplug one of them injectors in the open position its gonna fuel hydrolock itself

It won't. If no power is delivered to the injector solenoid the bypass valve is left open and all the fuel goes back to the return line. The only way it could hydrolock is if the needle is catastrophically damaged or the internal needle spring is broken

Those are different indeed, in the Bosch PD units they have a spring pushing against that bypass valve, if no signal is received, they default to open, flow towards the return line, and blocked flow towards the cylinder Edit: there's an official VW 1h course on how PD injectors work around KZbin somewhere.

The PD injectors are some of the most reliable injectors as there's not really anything to go wrong in them, excluding wear and tear over a looong period of exploitation, and even worn out they work RELATIVELY fine. With modern cars I agree though, they made them too complicated

I don't get this so if you remove the connector from 1 that's not working the engine will stall ???

The opposite. If you remove connector from good injector, engine stall or turn off. With bad ones keeps running but a bit rough. In this case 3 injectors seems to be bad.
