I didn't record much footage or take note of my experience as I played unfortunately, except for occasional progress updates on the nh discord. If I ever make a series on another pack, then I would go more in depth.

I disabled it in the configs, but I don't think it would be that hard to deal with in IV+ if you manage it correctly or ignore it outright w hazmat suits/higher tier armor

@@dashinking I didnt disable it. I know its a thing, I could do it theoretically, but I just want an authentic playthrough. I dont judge tho, its up to you if you play with or without it. I just really dont want to spread my base and I want to have everything nearby, but the damn pollution...

@@dashinking I also do not love "rpg" packs but RLCraft is just really well put together and I would say to a similar level of balance as GTNH. Obviously one being a lot lot lot longer than the other.

Most of this wasn't built by hand as the ring of Loki from Botania gives you the ability to place a lot of multiblocks in parallel. It pretty much cut down almost all the work of placing thousands of blocks which wouldn't really be feasible to automate in any other way. @dashinking ahhhh. I see. So you pretty much are automating the building already, it's just that the configuration of all the blocks can't be automated and that's what takes up most of the time?

You actually can configure most multis with Loki (including wire cutters for batch mode or screwdriver to switch machine type) which is really convenient. The only things that actually end up taking long are waiting on universium from EoHs and possibly other passive resources.

Nah I just meant playthrough as in my run, I only recorded clips when I felt like it was significant to progression or something cool happened

what version are you on? I rarely ever hear of issues that severe unless there's something really wrong with the version

I was playing on 2.5.1 for a large part of the playthrough, that's pretty weird

I was torn between preferring early game (stone-EV) and midgame (IV-UHV), but I ended up picking midgame because I like the convenience of ae2 + new stuff you accumulate each tier to work on (like power generation/circuit lines), compared to how much manual setup/resource scrounging there is earlygame. I do enjoy the "grind" that comes with it as well though, it's just that it becomes easy to breeze through after a few runs. One point I agree with is how little real logistics the pack has when much of what you do is entirely ae2 based, but imo that issue is due to the pack itself/Minecraft not really being suited towards that kind of gameplay style. There would probably have to be some sort of major design philosophy shift to make that work and I doubt that's ever happening. The new waterline seems to be one of the steps they're taking to re-introduce some form of challenge to later parts at least

Thanks! I agree that, until some months ago, there haven't been too many popular GT series due to the time investment and barrier to entry. I've noticed that it's been becoming more popular lately tho, with packs like Star Technology/Monifactory and some new GTNH series popping up over the last year. I also think that most packs don't really need ae2 systems to be this extensive, or they have Refined Storage as an easier-to-understand and serviceable alternative.

Take your time and don't expect anything in your base to be permanent for a while. There are many things you'll have to get used to like the GT energy system, hunger/mobs being awful earlygame, and microcrafting, but once you get past HV you'll probably get the hang of it. Consistently keeping on top of basic materials and power is important, or else you'll be spending hours waiting on things that you wouldn't otherwise (like EBF ingots, plastics, crafting parts, etc). Additionally, discord.gg/gtnh is a good resource if you'd like more help on what to do next, as there's tons of helpful ppl/useful information there.

The easiest method is using the Ring of Loki from Botania with which you can place markers that copy the blocks placed near a set position. For large multiblocks, you can place the controllers/hatches by hand with Loki then use a multiblock projector to build the rest automatically. It depends on what you need. Aluminum and titanium are much easier to get if you visit the moon compared to having to produce them through crops/bees/meteors, while some planets have benefits that you can't take advantage of (like mining planet rock for mysterious crystal dust or the energy multiplier for Dysons).
