Very helpful!! Do you have any videos of an example of you breaking the clip gain before volume automation rule?

Open and closed back headphones with a boom mic, while gaming, which will be better? My concern is sound bleeding into the mic from the headphones.

If bleeding is your concern, then go with closed back. But, they also make headphone headsets specifically for gaming, and you might want to look into those if you haven't already.

Super direct and useful video. Thank you! Is there any way to reveal-video-clip in Finder, the way one can do with audio clips? If a video gets updated it's easy to lose track of which movie the current session is using. Thx!

Hi Cato! Why haven't you switched to Reaper yet? You gotta try Reaper
@CatoNoise
@CatoNoise 4 күн бұрын
Haha, no way! I'm so sunk into pro tools, there's no hope for me. I did use Reaper years ago as an assistant - they had me processing drums in it, and then exporting for use in pro tools.

@@CatoNoise I still use protools in one of my studios, but i use what in my experience was the last stable version of protools which was 5.1.1 with the digi001 on os9. I have 2 of them. Reaper supports all plugin formats natively, You can use multiple different brand control surfaces simultaneously in reaper. The editing is less clunky. The switch between protools and reaper is very easy compared to other the difference between protools and other DAWs. I don't know if you've tried out the DAW control mode in the tascam but it's really really awesome. The money you would save from switching to Reaper could go toward a road case for the mixer.

Well, for something like the Dorian mode, you can just set the major key that it exists within, and then set to work using that mode.

Thank you. Thank you. You are the only one who's explained sidechaining in a way a novice like me can understand. So many other videos explain sidechaining by using other terms and concepts I don't know. Now I get it. Should have sought out a woman in the first place. New subscriber here!

Thanks Cato, great info to have. One question - how do you compensate for the stems not hitting the stereo bus compressor as hard as a full mix would? As a result, I'm assuming stems solo'd together after bouncing are not going to sound quite the same as the full mix? Thanks!

You need to show the hookup legend on the transformers. Hookups and part numbers etc. give it a good 20 seconds. It will improve your videos

I had this problem and finally realized the edit window wasn't fully expanded to the right so the feature just wasn't visible! My monitor screen is a bit small so that's part of the issue. I find sometimes I forget things that I used to know!

Does anyone here use it to mixdown live to SD stereo master FROM your DAW stems? It seems to me, that for the Model 16, you can only use the onboard EQ and compression functions using a DAW by mastering back into it, so to speak.

Hey Cato. Thanks so much for your most excellent videos. A little off topic, but since Pro Tools 2024.3, it has become impossible for me to use third party VIs as my system crashes way too often. I have been forced to roll-back to 2023.12. I am loath to submit tickets to Avid, because they become a whole project on their own and take way too much time. I did not sign up to be a beta tester. Anyway, I see that you use MIDI in your projects and was wondering if you are having problems too. Thanks again and keep up the good work!

It is more flexible to use "insert" + "freeze" to optimize resources. But there are times when this comes in handy…

My problem always seems to be midi controllers HUI is fun, Last night I spent 4+ hours trying to re establish Arturia Keylab 88 1st gen, That worked for years, the oddity was it worked with my other DAWs and it worked with every standalone instrument so no problem between peripheral and computer, Mac for me, What seem to work was digging out an old axiom 25 I did the regular set up, peripherals, HUI and it worked right away, so I left the Axiom allocations in place and plugged my Key lab via USB as usual and everything worked, in addition my control surface, which is also HUI gained functionality as it does not seem to be competing for HUI protocol, I took it again this morning and everything’s working still, the wonders of pro tools never cease to amaze me. I’ve been running it since 2003 digidesign version 6 There is always a workaround
