Thank you for this delightful reprise. Its fascinating to listen to different recordings for their variety. The clarity here was wonderful. A somewhat restless audience was an issue, however, them's the breaks at a live concert..
@NemesisxNemesis1221 күн бұрын
@@catherinejones9396 yeah there was a lot of coughing from the audience. At some point during Tschaikowsky the audience had to laugh because of the shit ton of how many had to cough at the same time
@pianoplaynight21 күн бұрын
@@NemesisxNemesis12 yes and Yunchan even turned to the audience cause he was puzzled that the coughing kept increasing! However I must say that this year there's a lot of flu with coughing going on so that can explain it to some degree. Of course it'd be nice if people had the basic decency to cover their mouth and not just YELL coughing but whatever...

I just started piano. Do you have any tips
@pianoplaynightАй бұрын
I have enough tips to fill a book 😊 the most important ones: check you posture, pick appropriately difficult pieces, ideally work with a good teacher weekly. It's hard to be self taught from scratch. There's a bunch of good yt channels for piano beginners, go check Jazer Lee for instance.

Thank you! I indeed can't stand the dragged interpretation that seems to be the norm, it breaks up the long melody completely. I don't know where this absurd practice started but very few pianists observe Chopin's indication.

Whoa, I would have never even suspected that this was Schumann's original tempo! ......Musescore has it listed at 83, and seemingly everybody plays it that way or slower..... are you sure this is Schumann's?
@pianoplaynight4 ай бұрын
@@extremepianochannel well I trust a lot more my Henle edition than musescore. On IMSLP there's the first edition, too, which confirms the MM 108: imslp.org/wiki/Special:ImagefromIndex/03060/pumu As of everyone playing it wrong... It apparently originated from Clara Schumann's way of playing this piece. But Robert wrote 108. Alas, it's not the first not last instance of everyone playing something at the entirely wrong tempo. Chopin op 10 n 3 and n 6 come to mind.

Hey man, I saw your comment on the recent 3Blue1Brown video about how you were at a crossroads between choosing computer science or music. I am at a similar crossroads as well, except with cs and basketball. I was wondering what you ended up choosing or what your thought process was like because I would love to hear someone else's perspective on the same problem. Thanks a lot. BTW I don't know much about music but that was a spectacular performance.
@pianoplaynight8 ай бұрын
Thank you for your comment and your inquiry! I think athletics and music are quite similar in a few aspects: 1) it takes many years of focused practice to get good, let alone great; 2) people at the top make a good living, a lot of the rest of the people struggle to make ends meet; 3) you got a lot of good non-professionals who will do it for free or almost. Given these three and myself not being "great" enough to aspire to a performing career, and not being interested in teaching, I went for CS. I was also genuinely interested in that. At the end of my studies I started working, and regretting my choice of letting music go... But I pushed through it and started searching for part-time work. This was the key to happiness for me. Who says you can't do TWO things in life? Some of the best artists in history had a day job, including Chopin who taugh piano to amateurs! So working part-time gives me entire days off every week to practice and play music without any constraints of making it financially profitable. For now, it's a great balance. I don't exclude, one day, to move towards music full-time. This works especially well with cs because you have things lile part time and remote work. I can imagine it would be good for your basketball too. You have to really ask yourself what do you want from basketball? CS will lead into a comfortable and stable life, basketball, unless you can genuinely aspire for the top... I dunno. (genuinely don't know how it's paid and where you're based). I don't know if you expected spiritual insights from me 😂 it's a bit of a materialistic view, but I just knew from an early age I wanted to have a family and provide for it.
