Hi! I've been wanting a HM pedal to boost my Muff's mids, and I searched up the combo and found your video! My question is about the signal chain, in another comment you mentioned that you place the JHS pedal after your drives. If I want to boost the mids of all of my signal, even when clean, where should I place the HM? Thanks!

I'm hoping to get a first generation Casiotone as an MT in the not too distant future although at the moment I have an MT-500 on it's way which was one of the first Casiotones to have PCM drums. But the funny thing is that back in 2003 people often used to scoff at the idea of a really outdated keyboard but since KZbin more people have become interested in these keyboards but I always liked them and think they have their charm because before 2006 I had never seen any of these Casiotones, the only 80s Casio keyboards I was aware of were the PT-1 and PT-87 which was the first keyboard my parents bought before I was even born. I honestly prefer these older Casiotones over any newfangled keyboard like the Montatge M, PA-5X, Genos, MODX, I'm even willing to spend as much as £200 on a first gen Casiotone and maybe I should push the boat out and opt for a full size CT. The rhythms section on this is the next bst thing from an Ace Tone or one of those older Roland CR drum machines. Maybe I might find other analog 80s Yamaha or Casio keyboards in a second hand shop which are also still worth buying.

Can't the Keystep's gate output be switched between V-trig and S-trig modes? I know the Behringer Swing can.
@greytaxon9867

Am I crazy or is the Keystep playing notes down a 5th? I'm seeing you hit C and hearing F, and then hit F and hearing Bb- sorry if I missed it and it's a tuning or preference thing. But if it's not- can transposing the Keystep (by semitones, not octaves) solve that issue?

which output are you using? just remember that you are outputting a stereo signal into something that is supposed (normally) to receive a mono signal. you should be sure that the pedal's input jack is stereo. I haven't looked at the TR's output sends yet, but maybe there's a way to send out a mono signal

I love that you didn’t shy away from that EQD LED that is so bright it’s almost insane. I love their stuff and that flashlight directly in your eyeball is just part of their look. Plumes might be my most versatile overdrive right now since it gets moved between my guitar, bass & synth boards. Add drum machine to the future list!

I also have both the Keystep and MG-1, and learned that you don't actually need to have an S-trig converter cable, as the Keystep can be toggled between V-trig (both 5v and 12v) and S-trig gate options using the MIDI Control Center software. It's the same for the Beatstep Pro gates, for those who own that instead of the Keystep. You really just need two 3.5mm to 1/4 inch cables.

I'm trying to get this set up to work and am finding that my MG 1 is 5 steps off notewise from what I'm playing and that the tuning is not very stable across the keyboard. Is there a way to resolve this?
@ChaseDoak
@ChaseDoak 3 жыл бұрын
@@timidcholer Does your MG-1 stay in tune when you play on its built-in keyboard? You may need to tune it if not. I was able to find a service manual online by searching that had tuning instructions. I can't remember if the Keystep software had any tunable settings with regard to their trigger implementation.
@timidcholer
@timidcholer 3 жыл бұрын
@@ChaseDoak The synth itself is totally in tune when I play it without CV. It's only when it's receiving information from the Keystep/my computer.
@DannydePerpignan
@DannydePerpignan 3 жыл бұрын
@@timidcholer I also have this issue. There's an easy fix to work around it. If you look at the rear panel there are 4 small holes. There you can calibrate and/or tune the synth with a small screwdriver. If i remember correctly, from left to right the holes are: 1. Tuning Osc 1 2. calibration Osc 1 3. calibration Osc 2 4. Tuning Osc 2. You can find this info also in the service manual, which is readily available on the net. (i'd not mess too much with calibration, unless it's necessary and you know what you're doing)

JHS talking about this in an old episode I was watching recently. It is his favorite pedals to stack video. Called "staking pedals" or something like that... The muff type pedals scoop mids and people use a tube screeamer type pedal to compensate because that pedal boosts mids. Using his haunting mids pedal is accomplishing the same thing.
@matthewkennedy7283
@matthewkennedy7283 3 жыл бұрын
It is a little different. The tube screamer cuts a lot of lows and the the haunting mids does not as far as I’m aware
@ghostierecordings
@ghostierecordings 3 жыл бұрын
right, the haunting mids is a pretty specific mid range EQ pedal, its been living towards the end of my drive chain on my board and its great to have something to tweak a bit without abandoning a pedal before it for lack of tonal options.
