Kein guter Film! Besonders Hans Castorp ist miserabel getroffen. Peeperkorn nimmt hier auch zu viel Raum ein. Das Sanatorium gleicht im Film eher einer Irrenanstalt.

Zugegeben, es ist unmöglich an den Roman ranzukommen aber hier ist schon die Besetzung katastrophal. Schade! Es ist schon bemerkenswert, dass nicht einmal schöne Landschaftsaufnahmen einen so ergreifen wie Mann's Beschreibung dieser.

I can't believe anyone likes this film, it's a grotesque adaptation of the book. Condensation was required and there's always something lost, but why do characters act like crazy or stupid? Everyone yells, there's no subtlety. Disgusting, IMHO.

It would take a genius to film The Magic Mountain adequately. It is one of those films that requires a LONG , LONG treatment.

Yeah this is why I dont really respect cinema all too much. This movie looks absolutely trash. Why is hans look all old, why is there no eurasian girl, why is every scene a crazy party when they should be using most of the time to express some summary of the dialogue between characters. Idk what idiot directed this, but he should be very embarrassed about this.

I agree. I adore the book so much, one of my favourites of all time. This trailer however is disgusting and has nothing to do with the atmosphere of the story.

Ein Klassiker der deutschen Literatur, vorweg "United Artists" und ganz am Ende offenbar der selbe deutsche Sprecher der auch die Trailer dieser bizarren Simmel-Verfilmungen kommentierte. Schräg!

I do wish that a English/ American version could be made, but please, please don't do what Ewan McGregor has done to American Pastoral. A tall order, I know...
