Llibre Vermell de Montserrat is not actually spanish. It's latin, catalan and occitan.

It is latin, it is catalan, it is occitan AND it is Spanish. Catalonia and the kingdom of Aragon are irreversibly tied to Spain and its history, disconnecting the two is reductionist and historically incorrect.

This is not "medieval Spain". This is Medieval Catalonia. Just look at the flag behind the altar. Spain did not exist until early 19th century while Catalonia exists since early 10th century and our flag ("the four bars of blood") exist also since then.

Cataluña nunca ha sido un país, fue un condado y luego parte del reino de aragón. Y por algunas veces parte de Francia. Y España (como país) lleva existiendo desde el siglo 18, y como región desde hace 3000 años.

The manuscript of the Red Book is from the late XIV century, two and a half centuries after the County of Barcelona becoming part of the Crown of Aragon, preceded state of Modern Spain. So Medieval Spain is a perfect term to refer to anything happening in Catalonia at that time. But the Spanish “thing” roots are to be found much earlier. You and your acolytes wrongly pretend Spain was born by some kind of punctual change of legislation or political regime (i.e. early XVIII Phillip V's New Plant Decrees or the 1812 Constitution. However, far beyond those milestones, the blatant fact is that the Spanish Nation has been built over two millennia. “Adefonsus imperator totius Hispaniae” (1077), does it sound to you? Or well before that, the lament “loss of Spain” in Chronicle of 754? Before that, go and check the political terms and considerations under the Visigothic Hispania, specially the Councils of Toledo from 397 to 702 (most notably the Third, then with Isidore of Seville and the foundations of European philosophy and Carolingian Renaissance), gathering bishops from all around Hispania, Barcelona and Lusitania's included. Apart from the mere geographical identification or political structures and cultural legacy of the Roman Hispania, the origin of the Hispani's unity as a Nation has a undeniable spiritual dimension, regardless the obvious existence and evolution of the polities within and rich diversity. A Common language (Latin) and religious sentiment was at the very foundation of the political Nation through Time. Santiago de Compostela, Our Lady of the Pillar in Zaragoza, Virgin of Guadalupe in Caceres, Monserrat...centering the spiritual union of the Hispani for centuries...against Islam, and hence the magnificent religious expression like the Red Book of Monserrat, most songs (8 out of 10) written in Latin, by the way. Spain is a Nation-State, not a State-Nation (like Italy, Germany, etc.), meaning that previous to the contemporary concept of State, Spain was already a deeply forged Nation. Pretending Spain didn't exist before the 1812 Constitution is like saying China only exists from the 1949 People's Republic of China's new political regime... or that you do not exist because your id card is expired.
